It’s been well over a year since the first season of Apple TV+’s critically acclaimed Dickinson streamed its first season. But hey, it’s also been over 135 years since Emily Dickinson died in 1886. So, you know, time is relative and whatever.

Regardless, the second season of Dickinson, starring Hailee Steinfeld as the titular poet, Ella Hunt as her estranged, secret love Sue Gilbert, and Jane Krakowski as Emily’s mother Emily Norcross Dickinson, is finally back as of tomorrow. That said, if you’re looking to binge the full season like back in the far-away days of November, 2019… Well, that’s not going to happen this time around. Only three episodes will come out this week, and then new episodes weekly after that.

That said, looking for a Dickinson Season 1 recap before the new season? Wondering who is in the cast of Dickinson Season 2? Or just wondering about what I promised in the headline, and would like to know what time Dickinson Season 2 premieres on Apple TV+? Read on.

What time will Dickinson Season 2 premiere on Apple TV+?

Unlike other streaming services, Apple TV+ only notes that new episodes release on Fridays. In this case, that would mean Dickinson Season 2 premieres on Friday, January 8, 2021. However, previous shows like Ted Lasso have reportedly dropped as early as Midnight ET on Friday / 9 pm PT on Thursday, so perhaps check things out before you head to bed. If the episodes aren’t there, grab a book of Emily Dickinson’s poems, fall into a gentle slumber, and when you wake up they should be live.

When will new episodes of Dickinson premiere on Apple TV+?

Unlike last season which saw all 10 episodes drop at once, this year Dickinson will have a weekly release. The first three episodes will premiere on January 8, and then one new episode will drop weekly after that. Here’s the full schedule, and episode titles according to the Writer’s Guild of America:

January 8: “Before I got my eye put out,” “Fame is a Fickle Food” and “The Only Ghost I Ever Saw”
January 15: “The Daisy follows soft the Sun”
January 22: “Forbidden Fruit a Flavor Has”
January 29: “Split the Lark”
February 5: “Forever – is composed of Nows”
February 12: “I’m Nobody! Who Are You?”
February 19: “I Like a Look of Agony”
February 26: “You Cannot Put a Fire Out”

What happened on Dickinson Season 1? Can I get a quick Dickinson Season 1 recap?

Surely! In Season 1 of Alena Smith’s wild mash-up of history and anachronisms, Emily finally stood up to her father Edward (Toby Huss) and proclaimed herself a poet. He slapped her. It was pretty awful. But he also relented a bit, and decided that even if he didn’t understand Emily wanting to pursue her art, he couldn’t stand in her way. Emily also rejected the physical manifestation of Death (Wiz Khalifa) as well as the metaphorical concept, and decided instead to pursue life.

Less exciting for Emily was the news that Sue was marrying her brother Austin (Adrian Enscoe), and moving next door into a new house called The Evergreens. Sue, by the way, was also pregnant. Emily knew Sue was pregnant; Austin did not.

And Lavinia (Anna Baryshinokov), after getting slut-shamed, realized that she has as much right to be an artist as Emily, and decided to try and pursue/figure out what her passion is, instead of falling into the trap of being a wife/mother/that’s it.

A lot more happened, but those are the important bits you need to know to jump right into Season 2.

Also, if you’re looking for a Dickinson Season 2 review, we’ve got that as well.

Who else is in the cast of Dickinson?

Darlene Hunt is Maggie, the Dickinson family maid and Emily’s confidant. Gus Birney, Sophie Zucker, Allegra Heart, and Kevin Yee are Jane Humphrey, Abby Wood, Abiah and Toshiaki respectively, sort of a Greek Chorus of Emily haters/fans, depending on their mood. And this season we’ll see Chinana Uche as Henry and Ayo Edebiri as Hattie, two Black Americans who are getting pretty involved in the bubbling Civil War, as well as working for the Dickinsons.

Other stars this season include Finn Jones as newspaper editor and publisher Samuel Bowles, Pico Alexander as anti-feminist Henry “Ship” Shipley and Will Pullen as the mysterious “Nobody.” Nick Kroll also appears as Edgar Allen Poe, and Timothy Simons as Central Park designer Frederick Law Olmstead.
