Jimmy Kimmel Publicly Names Members of Wednesday’s Pro-Trump Mob

Jimmy Kimmel is taking the right-wing media to task for promoting the baseless conspiracy theory that the pro-Trump mob that stormed the Capitol was made up of “antifa.” In order to debunk the false claim, which has been repeated by Republican lawmakers including Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, Kimmel identified various members of the mob and called them out by name and personal history. Maybe you should check out the clip above, FBI?

After joining his fellow late night hosts in adopting a somber tone on Wednesday night, Kimmel shifted gears and returned to his tried-and-true comedy on Thursday. “Watching the news, these experts keep saying, ‘History will not look back kindly on the politicians who continue with this charade,'” he said. “As if those people care about history. Those people don’t even care about climate change! At this rate, we’ll be lucky if we even have a history for them to be ashamed of.”

Kimmel moved on to the calls to remove Trump from office, as well as the right’s newfound commitment to the unfounded claim that leftist antifa supporters were behind the attack on the Capitol. “This is how we know we’re going to have to live in this flat-Earth society for a while,” said the ABC host, before playing clips of Gaetz, My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell, Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Alabama), and Sarah Palin discussing the baseless conspiracy theory across the cable news landscape. “Oh, god. Where did she — shut up, Sarah Palin. Crawl back in your igloo and seal the hole shut with snow.”

“You know, we spent the afternoon doing some research into this, and I have to be honest, there may be something to this theory,” he continued. “Let’s take a look at some of the more notable characters from the insurrection.”

As Kimmel ran through some of the most prominent figures among the pro-Trump mob — including Jake Angeli, an actor and Q Anon supporter; Adam Johnson, the Florida man who stole Pelosi’s podium; and Richard ‘Bigo’ Barnet, an Arkansas native who was photographed with his feet on Pelosi’s desk — he highlighted their many “antifa” qualities. “So, there they are, MAGA Antifa,” he concluded. “What are the odds he pardons these animals before he goes out?”
