Waiting for a new season of your favorite show to air can be absolute hell. It’s extra painful when the new season you’re waiting for is going to be the series’ last. That’s the position TV lovers all over the world are finding themselves in as they wait for Part 5 of Money Heist, also known as La Casa de Papel.

Back in July of 2020 it was announced that the Spanish-language Netflix original would be ending with Season 5. That means every one of The Professor and Tokyo’s fans are anxiously waiting for new episodes, while dreading the ending those new episodes will bring. But fear not. Netflix and your other favorite streaming services have a ton of shows that will help make this waiting game bearable. Whether you love Money Heist for its crazy schemes, charged romances, thrilling action sequences, or all of the above, there’s a new binge-watch waiting for you.

Whether you’re talking Narcos or Narcos: Mexico, you can’t go wrong. Each season of this Netflix original tells a different story of lies, ambition, passion, betrayal, and drugs. Lots and lots of drugs. Narcos doesn’t have the same soapy edge as Money Heist, but it can certainly match the action series in terms of drama. Another point in Pablo Escobar’s favor? Each season is based on a real drug lord, which proves nothing is more theatrical than real life.

What do you love about Money Heist? The fast-paced drama? The steamy romances? The twists so intense they’ll leave you with whiplash? Then you need to check out Álex Pina’s other Netflix original. After Zoe Walker’s brother is found dead after working as a DJ in Ibiza, she’s stumbles into a world filled with murder, cocaine, deals gone wrong, and wild sex parties. Sadly, the series was canceled after only one season. But what a fun season it was.

There’s an operatic edge to both Money Heist and Peaky Blinders that makes them both irresistible. From Steven Knight comes this show about the life and lies of the Shelby crime family. You’ll start watching for the gorgeous, pseudo modern period costumes and modern-day music. But what will keep you watching are all those betrayals and Cillian Murphy’s stunning performance.

'Ozark'

All right, so Ozark technically isn’t about heisting. What it is about is arguably the most boring part of any criminal activity: the money laundering. And yet this fast-paced Netflix original turns this dull part of committing crimes into a roller coaster. One minute Marty (Jason Batemen) is threatening a local crime syndicate. The next Wendy (Laura Linney) is becoming best friends with a cartel lord and secretly using her political connections to smuggle more drugs. You never know what’s going to happen in this drama, and that’s what you want, right?

You just finished a show about people trying desperately to get into places they don’t belong. Why not try out a drama about people trying to leave places they should be? Starring Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, this Fox series started as a simple tale of getting out of prison. But over five seasons that simple premise spirals into addicting chaos.

'Locked Up (Vis a Vis)'

On a surface level, the Spanish language Locked Up is a bit more like Orange Is the New Black than Money Heist. The drama tells the story of a young woman who’s sent to prison for crimes that have to do with manipulation and misappropriation. As she struggles to survive in this new and dangerous world, she learns the stories of her fellow inmates. This entry gets bonus points for starring not one but two Money Heist faves, Najwa Nimri and Alba Flores.

You’ve seen enough fake heists and fictional depictions of criminals avoiding the law. Why not focus on some real life crime? Each episode of this docuseries from Alex Gibney focuses on a different real-life criminal mastermind. You’ll leave this one shocked to your core.
