‘Jeopardy’ Announces New Guest Hosts Katie Couric, Bill Whitaker and Mayim Bialik

Jeopardy is ready to welcome some big stars on as its newest guest hosts. After Aaron Rodgers was revealed as an interim host yesterday, the game show officially announced its upcoming lineup for this season, which also includes journalist Katie Couric, 60 Minutes‘ Bill Whitaker, and Big Bang Theory actress Mayim Bialik.

After the death of beloved host Alex Trebek, Jeopardy has not yet named a formal replacement for the longtime host, but is instead bringing on new guests every week. Mike Richards, Jeopardy executive producer, revealed the new guest hosts today. “Alex was a legend, revered by all of us,” Richards said. “I want to thank our guest hosts, who will not only help all of us celebrate his great legacy, but also bring their own touch to the show.”

With each guest host’s appearance on Jeopardy, the show will make a donation to a charity of their choice. “The amount donated will equal the cumulative winnings of the contestants that compete during the weeks they serve as guest host,” Jeopardy shared in a press release today.

Couric, an award-winning journalist and best-selling author, will make history as the first-ever female host of Jeopardy, and is scheduled to be the first celebrity kicking off the new round of hosts this season. Following Couric, Rodgers, Green Bay Packers quarterback and Super Bowl MVP, will take a turn at the Jeopardy podium, where he’ll return to the show six years after appearing as a contestant on Celebrity Jeopardy

Next up is Whitaker, a 60 Minutes correspondent who’s been working in journalism for four decades. In 2018, Whitaker won the RTDNA’s highest honor, the Paul White Award for career achievement. Bialik, an actress and neuroscientist, will take up hosting duties after Whitaker. While she’s known for her role as Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Band Theory, Bialik recently premiered her own sitcom on Fox, Call Me Kat.

Jeopardy is currently airing new episodes featuring GOAT Ken Jennings, who joined the show as its first interim guest host following Trebek’s final episode, which aired on Jan. 8. While we can look forward to a stacked lineup after Jennings in the weeks to come, Jeopardy promises that additional guest hosts will be announced later this season.

Jeopardy airs weeknights at 7/6c on ABC.
