‘Bridgerton’ Sex Scenes Hit Porn Sites as Netflix Battles to Pull Them Down

Bridgerton: a period drama so sexy, even porn sites want a taste. According to The Sun, pirated sex scenes from Netflix’s Bridgerton have begun appearing on popular porn sites like Pornhub, where the clips have been viewed hundreds of thousands of times. Netflix is reportedly fighting to have the scenes removed, but despite their best efforts, the steamy moments continue to reappear, a situation that a source describes as “particularly distressing” for stars Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page.

Many of the scenes in question involve Dynevor and Page, who play debutante Daphne Bridgerton and Simon, Duke of Hastings, respectively. The Netflix drama follows Daphne and Simon as their mutually-beneficial fake courtship turns into a real romance, and after they marry, the two engage in seriously passionate sex.

Dynevor and Page’s sex scenes have sparked much interest in Bridgerton, but obviously, they are not pornography, and Netflix executives and the show’s stars are reportedly incredibly upset that certain users have begun treating them as such. “Bridgerton‘s sex scenes appearing alongside some of the most obscene material the web has to offer has sparked horror and anger,” an insider tells The Sun. “Raunchy set-pieces have contributed to the buzz but it is a prestige drama based on best-selling novels. To peddle scenes as pure smut is beyond the pale.”

“It’s been particularly distressing for Phoebe and Regé-Jean, two young actors who signed on for the role of a lifetime and did not consent to being exploited in this way,” they continued.

According to the source, Netflix has “been working tirelessly to hunt down pirates and eliminate misuse of their intellectual property. Anyone thinking about trying this will have the full force of the globe’s biggest streaming service against them.”

This is not the first time that sex scenes from popular series have made their way to porn sites. In the spring, a 22-minute compilation of Normal People sex scenes appeared on Pornhub and was deleted after producers filed a takedown request (unfortunately, it was then uploaded to other sites, including Pornhub competitor XVideos). Game of Thrones sex scenes also surfaced on Pornhub throughout the drama’s eight-season run, sparking a years-long battle between HBO and the adult website.
