Binge This: ‘Saved by the Bell’ Star Dexter Darden is Watching Lots Of Peacock These Days

What better place to get streaming recommendations than from rising star Dexter Darden? Not only is the 29-year old Saved by the Bell (2020) actor reviving a classic, he has classic taste in television, too. When he’s not bringing the reboot of the ’90s mainstay to life on Peacock, he’s binge-watching the streaming service’s most coveted content. Lately, its brand new crown jewel, The Office.

While Darden admits he’s a bit “late to the party,” it’s always a good day to watch The Office for the first time. Or the tenth. No judgement here. Now that Twitter has grieved, processed, and accepted the show’s grand exodus from Netflix, it’s time to move on: to Peacock. The Maze Runner vet credits The Office for its “outlandish, yet relatable comedy” and has appreciated “diving into different forms” of scripted humor, notably, the unending brilliance of Steve Carell. Even if you’ve been there done that, NBC is bringing never-before-seen content to Peacock. In addition to offering all nine seasons of The Office, Peacock announced an unprecedented collection of “Superfan Episodes,” which include deleted scenes and other unaired material from the iconic show. Darden will be happy to have those when he reaches the series finale. Definitely beats starting from the pilot again.

When he’s not watching Jim and Pam’s love story unfold for the very first time like we all wish we could, he’s watching The Voice. Acting isn’t Dexter Darden’s only talent, you see. He’s also an accomplished singer himself, so we’ll take his word for it when he tells us it’s worth watching these young musicians in their quests to make it big. Maybe he should audition! Here’s his cover of John Legend’s ballad “All of Me.”

For now, we’ll enjoy him as Devante on the 2020 revamp of Saved by the Bell. The show follows a California governor’s attempt to mitigate backlash after closing too many underfunded high schools. When the students from the shuttered schools get sent to the prestigious Bayside High, they must navigate their new surroundings — and their privileged classmates. The hilarious and strikingly relevant series just got renewed for Season 2! In the meantime, you can take Darden’s recommendations and binge The Office, The Voice, and Saved by the Bell on Peacock.

Peacock comes in three packages: Peacock TV free, which offers a limited collection for free; Peacock Premium ($4.99 per month or $50 per year), an ad-supported version that offers the full range of content; and Peacock Premium Plus ($9.99 per month or $100 per year), which will get you every season of The Office, and the Superfan Episodes, with no commercial breaks.
