‘Southern Charm’s Patricia Altschul Admits She Was “Snarky” About Craig Conover’s Pillows

There was a lot to discuss at the Southern Charm Season 7 reunion. But we should not breeze past the part where Craig Conover was congratulated for his success with his company Sewing Down South. Viewers and his own friends alike spent many seasons giggling at Craig for his sewing, his ambitions that hardly seemed in line with his party boy lifestyle, and his hobby for making cute home accessories. Cut to 2021 where his company not only stayed afloat during a global pandemic — they’ve landed their biggest deal yet.

Sewing Down South officially launched in 2018, as Craig brilliantly parlayed his “What’s wrong with my sewing?” storyline on the Bravo series into a successful company. What started as a way to sell his pillow designs has launched into so much more: the shop also offers t-shirts, totes, hats, and yes, even masks now. In 2019, Craig told Decider that the key to the success of Sewing Down South was that, “It has a positive image of doing what you want. I think just being authentic, being myself. The real key is my two partners, Jerry and Amanda,” who have helped him grow the business from his home sewing machine to a much larger production facility in South Carolina. With their guidance and support, the company also launched the pillow parties that gave viewers all over the country the opportunity to meet with Craig and purchase their favorite pillow designs, and you know Sewing Down South had a big presence at BravoCon in the fall of 2019. And that’s not even the best part of it all: the company often donates portions of its proceeds to important causes. So while you might have a pretty pillow in your home, you also helped a cause close to Craig’s heart.

So while the reunion was an opportunity for Craig to explain that Sewing Down South did a quarter-million dollars in sales in November, and even achieved their first million-dollar order with a recent order of 30,000 pillows coming in, as well as additional partnerships with HSN, it was also a chance for his castmates to show their appreciation for his success. Shep Rose said nice words, John Pringle offered up the idea for Craig to design a body pillow, and host Andy Cohen was excited for Sewing Down South to someday launch a store in Charleston where people can shop for new items (Craig is hoping for kitchen wares).

Even Patricia Altschul took to Twitter after the reunion last night to admit she had been “snarky” about his pillow line, and confirmed the two “are fine now.” This is great news, as this is not the ideal kind of pillow fight we normally like to see.

There’s an endless supply of drama on Southern Charm, so we might not always get to see the moments where Craig is killing it in his business ventures, but they’re definitely happening. In fact, we might even hear more about them on his new podcast with Austen Kroll, Pillows and Beer. Yes, that’s for real. And I can vouch first-hand, the pillows are high-quality and look gorgeous and rack up plenty of compliments when people visit (whenever that’s allowed again) or see them on Instagram. So Craig might be silly, but he’s also a big success too and it’s sew cool to see the people around him share how proud they are.

Part 2 of the Southern Charm reunion airs on Thursday, February 4 at 9 pm ET/PT on Bravo.
