‘The Great British Bake Off’ Charity Spin-Off to Feature James McAvoy, Daisy Ridley and More

The Great British Bake Off is getting a boost of star power for its latest installment. Split actor James McAvoyStar Wars star Daisy Ridley, musician Dizzee Rascal, and Little Mix member Jade Thirlwall are all set to compete on the hit reality series for to raise money for a cancer charity, Variety reports. The spinoff, titled The Great Celebrity Bake Off, will help support the Stand Up To Cancer charity and will premiere on the UK’s Channel 4 this spring.

Over the course of five episodes, The Great Celebrity Bake Off will test the baking skills of 20 star athletes, performers, musicians and more. Each episode of the show will feature four celebrities facing off in the famous Bake Off tent, where they’ll compete during three baking challenges, putting their skills to work during the Signature, the Technical and the Showstopper, to see who comes out on top.

And just like any episode of The Great British Bake Off, judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will judge the competitors’ sugary creations, while Matt Lucas will host the event. Sarah Lazenby, outgoing head of formats and features at Channel 4, commissioned The Great Celebrity Bake Off, which comes from Love Productions and will be executive produced by Richard McKerrow, Letty Kavanagh and Kieran Smith.

“What we all need right now is more joy,” Lazenby said. “Bake Off is serving up yet another dollop of fun courtesy of some very willing celebrities. We can’t promise a huge helping of baking inspiration, but we can deliver some much-needed laughs.”
