Looking for a spooky binge that will take your minds off the horrors of everyday life in 2021? You’re in luck, because History’s The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch is now streaming on Hulu.
This History channel docu-series from 2020 gave amateur and professional UFO sleuths an unprecedented look inside Skinwalker Ranch, a 512-acre property in Utah that’s seen way, way more than its fair share of paranormal activity. If you know your UFO mythology, then you know that Skinwalker ranch has been a part of modern UFO lore since the ’70s with the publication of the book The Utah UFO Display: A Scientist’s Report. Seriously—cow-mutilating creatures, flying saucers, otherworldly beings, Skinwalker Ranch has it all.
The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch comes from the team who made the long-running series The Curse of Oak Island. Except unlike that treasure-hunting series, the stars of this series are using the latest technology to document all the strange happenings that plague Skinwalker Ranch to this day.
But the History team isn’t the first group to move onto the property in the hopes of solving this mystery. After the Sherman family left the ranch in the ’90s, the newly christened Skinwalker Ranch became home to the National Institute for Discovery Science. They researched the land for 10 years, eventually calling it quits in 2004. NIDSci owned the ranch until 2016 when it was sold to a shell company and then placed on lockdown. But looking back, the increased security people have noticed over recent years could’ve been the result of History filming a show on the property.
The History series did solve one major mystery when it revealed who actually owns Skinwalker Ranch. Utah real estate magnate Brandon Fugal bought the property in 2016. He’s into a lot more than just real estate, though. He’s an investor in lots of cutting-edge technology, including Aero Dynamic Jets, and he has a huge collection of movie memorabilia. Yeah, the guy who owns Skinwalker Ranch also owns a jacket worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Terminator and a robe worn by Marlon Brandon in Superman. Give Fugal another History series just about his memoribilia!
