Woman Crush Wednesday: Nesta Cooper’s Got Us Feelng ‘Bliss’-ful

Happy February, everybody! In between celebrating Black History Month, Valentine’s Day, National Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day (yes, it is in fact a real thing, and in case you were wondering, it’s February 6th), and more, make sure to carve out the time for your weekly Woman Crush Wednesday! This week, we’re recognizing a wonderful woman whose filmography and depth as an actress have continued to growth quickly and exponentially throughout her almost decade-long career. If you don’t know her name yet, memorize it now, because she’s going to be making waves for many years to come. So, without further ado, give it up for your WCW, the captivating Nesta Cooper!

WHO’S THAT GAL: Nesta Cooper

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Cooper stars as Emily Wittle in brand new Amazon Prime Video sci-fi romantic drama Bliss, which premieres on the platform this Friday, February 5th. The film takes us on a mind-bending love story following Greg (Owen Wilson) who, after recently being divorced and then fired, meets the mysterious Isabel (Salma Hayek), a woman living on the streets and convinced that the polluted, broken world around them is a computer simulation.  When their new “Bliss” world starts bleeding into their actual “ugly” world, they are forced to decide what is real and where they actually belong.

Bliss has been getting shoutouts from and highlighted by publications like The New York TimesPop CultureThe San Francisco Chronicle, and more, so make sure to see what all of the hype is about by checking out Cooper and the rest of the cast’s great work in their movie as soon as it drops exclusively on Prime!

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Cooper’s professional onscreen debut was a two episode stint in The CW mystery psychological thriller series Cult in 2013. From there, she had guest or recurring roles in shows like R.L. Stine’s The Haunting HourGirlfriend’s Guide to DivorceSupernaturalThe ReturnedUnREALTies That BindHeroes Reborn, and The Magicians, and a role in 2015 psychological thriller film Diablo all before her biggest role yet, as Shannon in 2016 coming-of-age comedy-drama The Edge of Seventeen.

After The Edge of Seventeen shared Cooper and her general awesomeness with an even wider audience, she continued to work even more on screens both big and small, with roles in films like 2017 short film Curious Females, 2017 teen romcom #Realityhigh, and 2018 sports drama The Miracle Season, and even more in shows like The 100S.W.A.T.TravelersSpy Kids: Mission CriticalSupergirlWhere’s Waldo?, and See.
