Good news, nostalgic Nickelodeon fans: iCarly has officially landed on Netflix. The first two seasons of the hit comedy series are now available on the streaming service, introducing Carly (Miranda Cosgrove), Freddie (Nathan Kress), and Sam (Jennette McCurdy) to a whole new audience and reuniting them with old viewers.
iCarly, which aired on Nickelodeon from 2007 through 2012, follows a teen girl named Carly Shay who turns her life into a web show. When her show blows up overnight, Carly relies on her two friends, Sam and Freddie, and her artistic older brother Spencer (Jerry Trainor), to keep making new episodes for her fans.
The show was a remarkable success for the network, scoring five Emmy nominations for Outstanding Children’s Program and spawning a TV movie, iGo to Japan, in 2008. McCurdy even got her own spinoff series, Sam & Cat, with Victorious star Ariana Grande. Both Victorious and Sam & Cat are currently streaming on Netflix.
Fans were thrilled with the arrival of iCarly on Netflix, and shared their excitement on Twitter this morning. “ICarly on netflix now so definitely will be watching,” one wrote. Another added, “icarly is on netflix as of today, so this is the second best day in my life (coming in right after the day @jerrytrainor tweeted me).”
iCarly arrives on Netflix not long after news broke about a series revival set to premiere on Paramount+ later this year. The new show is set to star Cosgrove, Kress, and Trainor, but McCurdy has not been confirmed to return. The iCarly revival comes from producers Jay Kogen (School of Rock, The Simpsons, Frasier) and Ali Schouten (Diary of a Future President, Champions, Merry Happy Whatever).
Kogen shared the news on Twitter in December, writing, “People were asking what I was doing. Now I can tell you. We get to make iCarly for ADULTS!”
While fans will have to wait a little while for the new iCarly series, at least they can enjoy the original in the meantime. You can now find iCarly on Netflix, where Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming in full.
