Hulu’s ‘OnlyFans: Selling Sexy’ Documentary Will Explore the OnlyFans Phenomenon

Hulu will explore the OnlyFans phenomenon in a new documentary, OnlyFans: Selling Sexy, out Wednesday, February 10. An ABC News Original, OnlyFans: Selling Sexy will examine how the online platform went from a relatively niche site to a massive movement that allowed millions of users to earn an income during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Disney-owned Hulu first announced the OnlyFans: Selling Sexy documentary over the weekend. In a brief teaser, OnlyFans stars and media personalities discuss the platform’s transition from “Instagram, but for porn” to a huge element of the “pop culture zeitgeist right now.” As the teaser explains, celebrities from Cardi B to Bella Thorne are active on OnlyFans, but the platform also gives regular people an opportunity to make a name for themselves and to make extra money.

“OnlyFans has definitely enabled us to call the shots,” explains one voiceover, as images and clips from popular pages flash on screen. “Anyone can come in from the ground floor and start making money,” says another.

OnlyFans: Selling Sexy is a collaboration between ABC News Originals and Hulu. The documentary will feature appearances from popular adult content creators including Tyson Dayley, Wynter Mosely, and Kirsten Vaughn, as well as professional adult entertainers Griffin Barrows and Silvia Sage, all of whom are active on the platform. With the cameras following them, these creators must “navigate OnlyFans’ pandemic enhanced 2020 boom, the impact of an influx of celebrities on the platform, and the choices they have to make as they increase their fanbases and income while facing the real world impacts and stigma surrounding online sex-work,” reads a press release.

In addition to these popular creators, Hulu’s OnlyFans documentary will include commentary from comedians Nikki Glaser and Donnell Rawlings, therapists, and sex educators looking to “unpack the ways in which OnlyFans and its mysterious founder may be changing the world of online sex-work — for both good and bad — forever.”

OnlyFans: Selling Sexy premieres Wednesday, February 10 on Hulu. Watch the teaser above.
