Will Emma Stone’s ‘Cruella’ Be on Disney+? Here’s What We Know About the New Film

UPDATED 3/23/2021 AT 3:08 PM ET: Disney has released a dark and dramatic first look at Emma Stone as the titular role in Cruella ahead of tomorrow’s official trailer premiere for the highly anticipated film. The new movie, which has been in the works for at least two years now, is finally making its way to audiences after being delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.
Cruella tells the story of the 101 Dalmatians villain Cruella de Vil in a live-action origin story that brings the infamous character to life for a new generation of fans. While Disney hasn’t released much information about the film, it’s rumored to follow the notorious villain in her earlier years as a fashion designer in London.
In today’s movie poster for Cruella, Stone poses in character with Cruella’s trademark black and white hair, complete with smudged eye makeup, dark lipstick and a beauty mark on her cheek.

WHEN DOES CRUELLA PREMIERE?

While Disney originally planned to release Cruella in theaters in December 2020, the pandemic forced them to change their release plans. Now, Cruella is scheduled to premiere on May 28, 2021.

WILL CRUELLA BE ON DISNEY+?

Yes! Cruella will be on Disney+. The Emma Stone villain film will premiere both in theaters and on Disney+ May 28.

Disney released a few of its films on Disney+ in 2020, including Mulan, which was available to watch at home with Premier Access, and Pixar’s Soul, which was available without Premier Access. This spring, we can look forward to another Disney movie landing on the streaming service with Raya and the Last Dragon, which will become available with Premier Access staring March 5.

WHERE CAN I WATCH CRUELLA?

When Cruella lands on Disney+ this spring, you’ll need a Disney+ subscription to watch, but will also have to pay a Premier Access fee of $30 to stream the film at home. You can also find Cruella playing in select theaters starting May 28.

WHO STARS IN THE CRUELLA CAST WITH EMMA STONE?

Along with Emma Stone as Cruella, the film also stars Emma Thompson as the Baroness, Joel Fry as Jasper Badun, Paul Walter Hauser as Horace Badun, Emily Beecham as Anita, Mark Strong as Boris, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Tabitha, and Jamie Demetriou as Gerald. Original 101 Dalmatians star Glenn Close, who played Cruella in the 1996 film and its 2000 sequel, is listed as an executive producer on the new movie.
