Amazon’s ‘Invincible’ Trailer Teases Robert Kirkman’s Comic Book Adaptation

Amazon Prime Video is ready to unveil its next super-heroic project. The streamer has released the official trailer for Invincible, an animated series based on the comic book from Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead. The first three episodes of the comic adaptation are slated to debut globally on Friday, March 26, with new episodes available to stream on subsequent Fridays through April 30.

Based on the Skybound/Image comic of the same name by Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, Invincible centers on 17-year-old Mark Grayson (voiced by Steven Yeun), a teenager who is just like every other kid his age — except that his father is a legendary superhero named Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons). When Mark begins to develop powers of his own, he learns that his father’s legacy is far more complicated than he’s been taught, and he sets out to chart his own path in the superhero landscape.

In addition to Yeun and Simmons, Amazon’s Invincible features voice work from Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), Seth Rogen (This is the End), Gillian Jacobs (Community), Andrew Rannells (Black Monday, Girls), Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Mark Hamill (Star Wars: The Last Jedi), Walton Goggins (Justified), Jason Mantzoukas (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Zachary Quinto (Star Trek), Mahershala Ali (Moonlight), Melise (The Flash), Kevin Michael Richardson (The Simpsons), Grey Griffin (Avengers Assemble), Khary Payton (The Walking Dead), and more top talent.

Invincible is produced by Skybound and executive produced by Kirkman, Simon Racioppa, David Alpert, and Catherine Winder. Jeff Allen serves as supervising director, while Linda Lamontagne is credited as casting director.

Kirkman’s Invincible comic series first debuted in 2003 and quickly became a massive hit. The series ran for 15 years before concluding with Issue #144, which was released in February 2018. Just a few months later, in June 2018, Amazon gave a series order to an eight-episode, hourlong animated series based on the comic. At the time, Invincible was the first series to emerge from Kirkman’s overall deal with Amazon Studios, which was originally inked the year prior.

Invincible premieres Friday, March 26 on Amazon Prime Video. Check out the official trailer above.
