Ginny & Georgia ends with something of a twist for its characters. Just as Georgia (Brianne Howey) thinks she’s finally managed to move on from her troubled past, her own daughter Ginny (Antonia Gentry) starts to figure out the dark depths of her cons. And so Ginny & Georgia ends on a moment that should be a total high for Georgia, but that’s only because she has no idea what Ginny has done.

Ginny & Georgia Spoilers Ahead!

Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia  follows beautiful, scheming single mother Georgia as she attempts to make a fresh start in the idyllic Wellsbury, Massachusetts. Along for the ride are her 15-year-old daughter and young son, the two people she would do anything for. In fact, it seems that Georgia really will stop at nothing to protect her kids and give them the best life has to offer. Including murder.

IS GEORGIA A KILLER IN GINNY & GEORGIA?

Yup! Georgia is a straight up “black widow,” weaving across the South, killing vile husbands, taking their money, and framing boyfriends for her own crimes! In the case of her most recent husband, Kenny (Darryl Scheelar), though, we kind of empathize with her actions. Sort of. I mean, she could have just divorced him for groping her teen daughter.

After seeing Kenny get a little too friendly with Ginny, Georgia poisons him with wolfsbane in his smoothie. The healthy yoga guru is struck with a heart attack while driving and crashes his car. Georgia makes off with his inheritance.

“I think Georgia plays every card that she’s been dealt, she’s not afraid,” Brianne Howey told Decider. “She knows herself. She is bold, she’s confident, she’s calculated, she can be diabolical at times, she doesn’t follow any of the rules, and her main passion in life are her children and protecting them.”

Howey said, “To Georgia’s credit, it’s always worked. It always works out for Georgia.” Or has it?

We also know by the end of Ginny & Georgia Season 1 that Georgia has killed at least two of her husbands. While most of Ginny & Georgia focuses on Georgia successfully covering up the murder of Kenny — YES KENNY’S ASHES WERE IN THE FIREWORKS! — Season 1 ends with PI Gabriel Cordova (Alex Mallari, Jr.) finally learning about Georgia’s first husband. A “missing person” named Anthony Greene. The implication is that even if Georgia is riding high at her new hot fiancée’s mayoral victory rally, she’s still in hot water.

Of course, Georgia can handle that kind of heat. What she won’t be able to handle? What Ginny’s done…

WHERE IS GINNY GOING AT THE END OF GINNY & GEORGIA?

Was it that her mom pulled a gun on her? Killed Kenny? Lied about every part of her past? While we don’t know exactly what broke Ginny’s trust in her mother once and for all, she totally runs away from home at the end of Ginny & Georgia Season 1. She steals her mom’s old biker jacket, a wad of cash, and Marcus’s (Felix Mallard) motorcycle…all to ride away from Wellsbury with little Austin (Diesel La Torraca) in the middle of the night.

So where is she going? (To her dad’s in Boston??) What is Ginny’s plan?? HOW IS GEORGIA GOING TO REACT?!?

“Georgia is gonna lose her mind and set the town on fire,” Brianne Howey told Decider. “She’s going to take a torch through the streets.”

Gentry was mum on where she thought Ginny was going, but noted that there are “Easter eggs” in the series that might give folks a sense of where things are headed. “But then you realize, wait, the show is so completely unpredictable. So who knows?” Gentry teased.

“I think Ginny is just really prepared to do whatever she needs to do to protect her brother,” Gentry said. That includes running off in the middle of the night on a stolen bike, emulating her mother to an extreme…

IS GINNY TURNING INTO GEORGIA AT THE END OF GINNY & GEORGIA SEASON 1?

One theme that emerges over the course of Ginny & Georgia is how Ginny ironically becomes more and more like her mother the more and more she learns about Georgia’s past. By the end of the season, Ginny dons her mother’s old biker jacket and pulls a Georgia by going on the run.

So is Ginny turning into Georgia? And was that shift intentional?

“I definitely think a lot of it initially was subconscious,” Gentry said. “There’s that whole question from right from the beginning of passion versus power. You see Ginny kind of getting a taste of power and getting a little drunk with power, you know what I mean? She has this popularity and she kind of changes. You see how in her wardrobe, she could see how she changes, she straightens her hair, she has this different attitude about her.”

After that, however, Gentry thinks it becomes more conscious.

“The more that she learns about her mother, I think the more she feels even more grown up like an adult, so she can kind of do what she wants. But that’s not actually always the best case for her,” Gentry said. “An we definitely see that towards the end.”

“You see her really decide, finally consciously decide, you know what, I’m going to take matters into my own hands. And that’s something that Georgia would very much do,” said Gentry.

Howey concurred, noting that both characters still have a lot of story to dig into. “I think it’s just going to be a journey for [Georgia]. Even more so than we’ve already seen, but I’m really, really happy with Season 1. And I want people to just go along for the ride and enjoy like we have.”
