Meghan McCain Complains That Democrats’ “Vitriol” Has Alienated “Non-Trump Republicans Like Me”

Two days after going viral for attacking Dr. Anthony Fauci, Meghan McCain continued her “woe is me” campaign with a screed about Democrats alienating moderate Republicans such as herself with their anti-Trump rhetoric. On Wednesday morning, The View host complained that she believed Democrats would be “happy” after President Joe Biden’s inauguration and would work to reach across the aisle, but instead, they have declared that “the world is coming to an end and it’s all Republicans’ fault.” Argued McCain, “All I feel is anger and hate and arguably more vitriol than happened during the Trump years.”

McCain’s impassioned monologue came during a discussion about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is currently in the mix as a potential 2024 Republican presidential candidate. “He’s arguably more popular than Trump in Florida,” said the co-host, adding that, in her opinion, DeSantis has done a “very good job” of overseeing his state’s COVID-19 response. “The question is, who can bridge the divide between people like me and Trump supporters?”

The outspoken conservative added that “after Trump lost,” she expected Democrats to “be happy” and welcome “Republicans like me” who may “be open to their side of the party.” However, that doesn’t appear to be the case. “And all I hear, almost hourly, if it’s on social media or on TV, is … screw Trump, screw anyone that’s been associated with the Republican party in any capacity over the last 50 years,” she said.

“There is no home for me on the left, in any capacity whatsoever,” continued McCain. “The fact that I watch Tucker Carlson’s show is probably just blasphemy enough in the house of politics that I can’t do anything in any way.”

McCain concluded by saying that “there’s a lot of Republicans in the country that were really open to working with the other side,” but have been alienated by Democrats’ rhetoric. “So, it’s open season for someone like Ron DeSantis,” she told her co-hosts. “You just can’t isolate non-Trump Republicans like me going forward, because I’m not going to be voting for a Democrat.”
