Guy Fieri Just Fed ‘The View’ Hosts So Much Food That They Were Unable to Fight About Politics

All hail the Mayor of Flavortown! After a year of remote shows, The View finally showed a spark of life thanks to Guy Fieri, who plied the co-hosts with so much food that they were unable to fight about politics (or anything, really). The hilarious cooking segment was meant to promote a new season of Fieri’s Tournament of Champions, which will raise money for local restaurants that are struggling to survive amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Quieting The View hosts AND saving small businesses — is there anything Guy Fieri can’t do?

In case you had any doubt that Guy Fieri is the best celebrity chef, his Friday appearance on The View quickly solidified his status as an out of bounds television personality. The segment opened with a clip from the new season of Tournament of Champions, which will see 16 big-name chefs compete for a chance to win glory. But this is Guy Fieri, the internet’s favorite human, so of course, there’s more to the story: each episode, one chef will win $10,000 for a local restaurant that has been affected by the pandemic. Multiply that figure by seven episodes, and Fieri and Food Network will be giving nearly $100,00 to restaurants in need.

But back to The View. As Fieri hyped up the new season, the co-hosts munched on various dishes from Flavortown Kitchen, his delivery-only restaurant, including bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers, an unbelievable looking burger, and a chicken sandwich (the recipe for which you can find on The View website). The hosts were so happy with their assorted Flavortown offerings that they put aside the tension from just a few minutes earlier, when Meghan McCain took offense to President Biden’s “neanderthal thinking” remark, and happily praised the chef.

“I’m eating your stuff already here. It’s delish!” said Joy Behar, before the interview even began in earnest. “It’s great!”

“Guy, I’m one of your biggest fans. Flavortown is one of my favorite restaurants ever,” added McCain. “We rarely agree on anything on this show at all, but as much as we all wholeheartedly want your food — my response to our producer’s email about if I wanted Flavortown delivered was: ‘I blanking love Flavortown.’ Especially the stuffed jalapeño poppers. And I really loved them when I was pregnant, so thank you for creating them.”

The co-hosts attempted to ask Fieri a few questions about his dishes, his work with the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund, and his feelings about mofongo (yes), but it quickly became clear that it’s difficult to have a real conversation when the questioners are eating, and the answerer is cooking.

However, it’s still extremely enjoyable to watch said attempted conversation, so I will not deny you that privilege. Watch Guy Fieri’s unbelievable appearance on The View above.
