If This, Then That: Share Your Best TV and Film Recommendations for the Chance to Win $10,000

As many of you already know, Decider’s mission is to help you, the reader, cut through the clutter to find the best shows and movies to stream. You come to us to make those tough calls for you. But today, dear readers, we’re turning the tables on you.

We partnered with Vocal, a storytelling platform with a dedicated community for entertainment enthusiasts, to launch a writing Challenge called “If This, Then That,” now live on Vocal. To enter, you must harness your own inner-critic and share which of your favorite shows and movies should be added to a fan’s next binge watch. Think about it – if you’re anything like us, you’re already in the habit of telling everyone in your life what they should be watching. You can continue giving away those recommendations for free, or you can enter “If This, Then That” and have the chance to win as much as $10,000.

Enter Vocal and Decider’s “If This, Then That” challenge!

Qualifying stories can cover any films or TV shows you’d like, and must follow a “if this, then that” formula—for example, if your favorite movie is cult-classic Goodfellas, then a show you should definitely watch is Peaky Blinders. If you rewatch Pride and Prejudice once a month, then Bridgerton should definitely be added to your list. If you’ve always loved the original Dune, then Snowpiercer is the movie or show to check out.

The “If This, Then That” Challenge will reward three winners with cash prizes totaling $13,500!

  • Grand prize: $10,000
  • Second place: $2,500
  • Third place: $1,000

Amongst the judges is Decider’s very own Lea Palmieri, our Director of Creative Strategy, and Glenn Kenny, film critic, author, and recurring Decider contributor. Lea first fell in love with film upon watching The Little Mermaid, and is currently obsessed with all things Bravo. Glenn, himself, is a mob movie fanatic; in fact, his latest book is Made Men: The Story of Goodfellas, which gives a peak behind the curtain of Martin Scorsese’s masterpiece.

Vocal is accepting submissions for the “If This, Then That” Challenge through March 30, 11:59pm EST.
