The Vampire Diaries has long been a streaming staple with its dramatic storylines, twisted love triangles, and soapy teen angst. Lucky for us, it’s been easy to watch the Salvatore brothers and Elena since the series first premiered in 2009, and there are eight whole seasons to binge right now on Netflix.

Right now, it seems like The Vampire Diaries is here to stay on Netflix in the U.S. But in bad news for international Vampire Diaries fans, the series appears to be leaving Netflix in the Netherlands.
WHEN IS THE VAMPIRE DIARIES LEAVING NETFLIX?
Netflix viewers in the Netherlands and Belgium will have to say goodbye to The Vampire Diaries in the coming weeks and months. The series disappears from the platform in Belgium on March 18, while it’s being removed from the platform in the Netherlands May 31.
There’s no set date yet for when The Vampire Diaries is leaving Netflix in the U.S., but we can estimate it could be sometime in 2022, so there’s no need to panic just yet. As reported by Decider back in January, Netflix’s deal with The CW means that The Vampire Diaries will remain on the platform for now, but because The CW parent company WarnerMedia has its own streaming service with HBO Max, it’s likely the series will not stay on Netflix when the contract is up. Decider has reached out to Netflix for comment, but didn’t hear back by time of publication.
WHERE ELSE CAN I WATCH THE VAMPIRE DIARIES?
While Netflix isn’t getting rid of The Vampire Diaries for U.S. customers any time soon, there are still other options to watch the teen drama. You can also purchase The Vampire Diaries on Prime Video, iTunes, Vudu, Google Play, and the Microsoft Store, where you can buy full seasons or single episodes. Right now, The Vampire Diaries is not on services like Hulu or YouTube TV.
