‘Killing Eve’ Sets Fourth and Final Season as AMC Networks Explores Spinoffs

Killing Eve‘s cat and mouse game is finally coming to and end — or is it? AMC Networks has announced that award-winning drama Killing Eve will end with its upcoming fourth season, which is scheduled to begin shooting this summer. However, Eve and Villanelle aren’t departing for good: the company is currently working with Sid Gentle Films Ltd. on multiple spinoff series that will “extend the show’s iconic universe” into parts unknown.

According to AMC Networks, the parent company of BBC America, Killing Eve Season 4 will contain eight episodes. Production on the show’s fourth season was scheduled to begin last year, but it was shifted due to the COVID-19 pandemic; now, production is scheduled to begin early this summer ahead of a 2022 release.

Like its previous three installments, Killing Eve Season 4 will boast a new head writer, with Laura Neal (Sex EducationSecret Diary of a Call Girl) overseeing the final eight episodes. Neal will also serve as an executive producer on Season 4 alongside series creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Sally Woodward Gentle, Gina Mingacci, Damon Thomas, and Sandra Oh.

Killing Eve has been one of my greatest experiences and I look forward to diving back into Eve’s remarkable mind soon,” said Oh in a statement. “I’m so grateful for all cast and crew who have brought our story to life and to the fans who have joined us and will be back for our exciting and unpredictable fourth and final season.”

Killing Eve has been the most extraordinary journey and one that I will be forever grateful for,” added co-star Jodie Comer. “Thank you to all the fans who’ve supported us throughout and come along for the ride. Although all good things come to an end, it’s not over yet. We aim to make this one to remember!”

Details about the potential Killing Eve spinoff series are few and far between, but Dan McDermott, president of original programming for AMC Networks, promises that they are actively “exploring potential extensions of this compelling universe.”

“We have been unbelievably blessed to work with extraordinary human beings throughout the life of Killing Eve,” added executive Producer Sally Woodward Gentle. “From the magical Phoebe, to the delectable Emerald, Suzanne and now Laura, headed by the super-powers of Sandra, Jodie, Fiona and Kim, and with brilliantly talented directors and crew. No one knew what an adventure we were embarking on and there’s so much more to come. Buckle up!”

The first three seasons of Killing Eve are currently streaming on Hulu.
