Woman Crush Wednesday: Get Cozy With ‘Country Comfort’ Star Katharine McPhee

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everybody! We must have the Luck of the Irish for this holiday to also fall on a Woman Crush Wednesday. Make sure to grab your Shamrock Shakes and pots of gold so you’re prepared to celebrate a woman who doesn’t need luck to absolutely crush it as a successful singer, songwriter, and actress. So, without further ado, give it up for this week’s special St. Patrick’s Day WCW, the magnificent Katharine McPhee!

WHO’S THAT GAL: Katharine McPhee

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: McPhee stars as Bailey in upcoming Netflix Original comedy series Country Comfort, which premieres on the platform this Friday, March 19th. The show revolves around an aspiring country singer (McPhee) who finds the band she’s been missing when she takes a job as nanny for a musically talented family, which consists of a rugged cowboy (Eddie Cibrian) and his five children.

The lighthearted comedy has already received positive press from ForbesPeopleIndieWire, and more so make sure to get in on the action for this feel-good family friendly show led by McPhee and the rest of Country Comfort‘s wonderful cast.

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: McPhee had quite the memorable onscreen debut as a contestant of hit FOX singing competition series American Idol on 2006. Her second place finish in the show’s fifth season officially put her on the map as a gifted singer and poised presence on-camera, and she utilized that momentum in addition to her musical theater experience to make the move to take on roles in film and television. McPhee quickly began racking up credits in shows like YouTube web series lonelygirl15, ABC comedy-drama Ugly Betty, CBS police procedural CSI: NY, NBC sitcom Community, and FOX animated sitcom Family Guy, as well as in feature films like 2007 biographical musical drama Crazy, 2008 comedy The House Bunny, 2011 action rom-com You May Not Kiss the Bride, 2011 horror Shark Night 3D, and 2011 comedy-drama Peace, Love & Misunderstanding all in half decade following her time on Idol, before making her next big break in 2012.

From 2012 to 2013, McPhee’s career as an actress soared to new heights with her star turn as Karen Cartwright in NBC musical drama series Smash. Though it was short-lived, the series racked up a cult following and highlighted McPhee’s talents as a lead actress (who also had the bonus ability to belt out a tune at a moment’s notice). Clearly casting directors took note of her skills because just one year later saw the actress landing another main role in a series, this time as Paige Dineen in CBS action drama Scorpion, which she acted in from 2014 to 2018. These roles and more have helped to exemplify McPhee’s depth and talents as a performer, and show that she still has many more years of big roles and success to come.

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Luckily, you won’t have to wait too much longer to see more from McPhee. The actress has two movies on the horizon; the first is family film The Tiger Rising, which is about a young boy who discovers a caged tiger in the woods near his home, and the second is drama Intensive Care, which focuses on the unique relationship that blossoms between a fragile, Southern woman and the young, abused boy she kidnaps and takes on the road while their families and the police search for them.

If you want to keep up with McPhee while you wait for these exciting new titles to come out, you can give her a follow on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. So, make sure to give this week’s WCW some love by recognizing the awesomeness that is Katharine McPhee.
