Yes, bad baking fans, Nailed It is back. The Netflix reality show, which pits amateur bakers against each other to recreate ultra-complicated cakes, with hysterically bad results, begins its fifth season today. Hosted by the very funny Nicole Byer, oddly amusing chocolatier Jacques Torres, and a revolving door of guest judges, Nailed It has earned three Emmy nominations as well as a spot in our hearts.

Season 5 premieres on March 26, but this time, there’s a twist. 2021 is the year of Nailed It: Double Trouble, which means instead of just one bumbling baker, we’ll watch as a team of two attempt to win the $10,000 prize. “From best buds to brothers and sisters, these bakers are twice as bad. This season, we go far and wide for inspiration, ranging from delicious baked treats inspired by Greek mythology to sugary desserts from dear old Grandma” reads the Netflix logline. And, for the first time, we’ll get a celebrity baker to gently mock as actress Joey King partners with her sister to attempt to win the coveted “nailed it” trophy.

But have you ever wanted to play along at home? Do you wonder what equipment the Nailed It contestants use to mix, bake and decorate their Frankenstein baked good creations? We’re here to set the record straight and offer a few of our favorite products from the Nailed It kitchen, with the help of Food Producer at Magical Elves, Kim Seeley. From the iconic Kitchen Aid Mixer to the Guittard chocolate which takes center stage every season, here’s how you can bake with the best (worst?) of them—either alone or with help from your friends.

Waring Countertop Electric Fryer, $305

Sometimes, you just gotta fry. Nailed It bakers use this amazing, 8.5-pound double fryer for things like doughnuts, but let’s face it, we could all use an efficient, high-heat fryer to create no-mess French fries, wings and yeah, we said it, fried Twinkies. Because it’s electric, the burners are submerged, which means heat is transferred more efficiently than gas fryers. We also love that the steel tank is removable, which means cleaning is a cinch.

Sometimes it’s the little things that can elevate your baking prowess above the laughable. At least that’s the hope with the various OXO hand tools used every season. We couldn’t live without the basics, like the Flat Whisk and Silicone Whisk, this Silicone Decorating Bottle Kit, and this Bent Icing Knife. And if you hadn’t noticed, Nailed It definitely couldn’t live without these POP Containers, which you can buy in an eight-piece set.

When it comes to chocolate, we know Nailed It is not skimping. In fact, all things chocolate including chips and cocoa is from this artisanal family business, which started in France and came to America in the 1800s. Thankfully, you can buy these gorgeously packaged Guittard products for your own kitchen, like the gold foil-clad Semi Sweet Chips, Bittersweet Cocoa Baking Bars, Chocolate Rouge Cocoa Powder and Signature Milk Chocolate Block.
