‘Bad Girls Club’s Deshayla Harris Killed in Virginia Beach Shootings

Deshayla Harris, Bad Girls Club star, has been identified as one of the victims killed in the March 26 Virginia Beach shootings, Entertainment Tonight reports. Harris, who was featured in the final season of the reality series, was described as a “bystander at the second shooting” in a press release sent out by the Virginia Beach police department on Saturday. She was 28 years old.

Harris was one of two victims killed last week when three shootings took place all on Friday, which police believe to be unrelated. The other victim is 25-year-old Donovan Lynch, according to TMZ. “We do believe that she truly is, at this point in time, an innocent victim that was probably struck by stray gunfire in some regards,” Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate said during a press conference this weekend.

Bad Girls Club fans will remember Harris as a cast member on Season 17 of the series, which aired in 2017. Harris, who is originally from Norfolk, Virginia, was featured on the East Meets West season, which included women from both sides of the country. While on the show, she earned the title of “Firecracker Fashionista.”

Shortly after news of Harris’ death broke, tributes to the star rolled in on Twitter, with the official Bad Girls Club tweeting, “Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to Deshayla’s family and loved ones.”

Harris’ Bad Girls Club costar Keyaira “Key” Hamilton shared her own tribute on Instagram yesterday, posting a series of photos and videos in honor of Harris. “No matter how much I refused to talk to you…you never took no for an answer you popped up to my show just to prove fixing our friendship meant something to you 🥲,” she wrote. “Hardest part about losing you is I never fully forgave you 😫😔

“I literally let that TV shit stand between us building a connection outside of tv 😔🥲🥲🥲 you didn’t deserve this man this shit jus don’t feel real ….I’m sick affffff 🥲🥲 rest easy Babygirl @missshaybae thank you for always pushing me and supporting me no matter where we were in our friendship…watch over me 🙏🏾 I love you …we literally JUST talked 3 days ago 😫.”

In total, 10 people were injured by the shootings on Friday, including the two victims who died. According to CNN, at least four people remain hospitalized after the shootings, the first of which began after a conflict between a group of people on Atlantic Avenue. As of yesterday, three men have been arrested in connection with the first shooting.

Ahmon Jahree Adams, 22, Nyquez Tyyon Baker, 18, and Devon Maurice Dorsey Jr., 20, have been charged with seven counts of felonious assault, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and reckless handling of a firearm.
