Who Killed Sara? just premiered on Netflix and already the series has been given a Season 2. That just goes to show you, when you mix hot people, murder, secrets, and parasailing anything can happen.

Since the Spanish-language drama has premiered, it has been part of Netflix’s list of the Top 10 Shows and Movies in the United States. Looking for a guide to that wild ending? We have you covered. Here’s everything you need to know about Who Killed Sara?‘s Season 1 ending.

So… Who Killed Sara?

We’re still not entirely sure. But it seems that the most likely culprit is Mariana (Claudia Ramírez), Rodolfo’s (Alejandro Nones) mother. Let us explain.

Thanks to her sort of son figure, sort of lover Elroy (Marco Zapata), Marianna learned that Sara (Ximena Lamadrid) was pregnant with a Lazcano baby. She was decidedly not happy about this, but she went about her plan sneakily. Marianna pulled Sara away during vacation and promised her that the family would support her and her baby. This matriarch also gave Sara a bit of questionable advice: really YOLO it up before the baby starts showing. You see, Sara had made it pretty clear that she was all for trying her hand at the parasail, and Marianna saw that as a chance to construct a pretty believable “accident.”

Marianna sent Elroy to do her bidding, giving him a knife and instructing him to make sure Sara was the first person to use the new toy. Though we know that the parasail broke, we’re still not entirely sure if Elroy was to blame. During a flashback after Sara fell in the water, he told Marianna that he couldn’t do it. Whether that “couldn’t do it” refers to him trying to cut the rope or finishing Sara off is unclear. But why exactly was Marianna so invested in killing her daughter-in-law and grandchild? Well…

Who Was the Father of Sara’s Baby?

It turns out that Rodolfo wasn’t the father after all. That perverse honor belonged to César (Ginés García Millán), Rodolfo’s father. Not only did César impregnate his son’s teenage girlfriend. He also showed her a snuff film of him murdering a prostitute while he did it. That’s why Marianna was so eager to dispose of Sara.

And no matter how horrible you may think César is, he’s actually way worse. As the series reveals, César was responsible for killing several prostitutes including Flor and Imara. He used to recruit women to work in his secret brothel before stealing their passports and blackmailing them to keep working for him. That right there is called human trafficking. Just when it seemed like it was impossible for César to sink even lower, he did.

In Season 1’s finale Rodolfo’s wife revealed that she was pregnant with her husband’s child. Except that was impossible. Rodolfo got a vasectomy after Sara’s death as way to mourn his lost child. That means another woman in Rodolfo’s life has been impregnated by his father. Some boys get all the luck.

What’s Going on with Chema and Lorenzo?

Time for a B plot. While César has been tormenting and sleeping with all of Rodolfo’s girlfriends, his other son has just wanted some peace and quiet. Most of this season has followed Chema (Eugenio Siller) and his boyfriend Lorenzo (Luis Roberto Guzmán) as they try to find a surrogate mother for their unborn child. But at the last moment, Lorenzo noped out of this arrangement.

Season 1 ended with the surrogate’s ex slashing Lorenzo’s tires. That, compounded with César’s  incest problem, control over his entire family, homophobic disrespect for their relationship, and love of torturing sex workers, was the final straw. Lorenzo told his partner that he would be going to Atlanta to escape Chema’s crazy family and he suggested Chema do the same. Honestly, points to Lorenzo. The man is right.

How Did Who Killed Sara? Season 1 End?

For the past 18 years Alex (Manolo Cardona) has been convinced that a parasailing accident was what killed his sister. But maybe that was never the case.

Toward the end of the season Alex found one of Sara’s old journals. Filled with notes from Sara writing about how she wanted to die, the book also contained something odd: a drawing with an unmarked grave. Alex recognized the location of that drawing and started digging up what has to be the most shallow grave in the history of the universe. But it turned out his hunch was right. As Elisa (Carolina Miranda) arrived he pulled out a skull with a bullet in its head.

Did this skull belong to Sara? Was it one of the sex workers? Someone we don’t even know about? Whoever it was we know that César pulled the trigger.
