After social media star Addison Rae appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last Friday (March 26), she faced intense backlash to her segment, entitled “Addison Rae Teaches Jimmy Eight TikTok Dances.” And now, Rae has responded to the backlash in an interview with TMZ.

“It’s kinda hard to credit [them] during the show,” Rae told TMZ when they caught her walking down the street in an ambush style interview. “But they all know that I love them so much and I support all of them so much and hopefully one day we can all meet up and dance together.”

Rae, who is white, performed these dances while neither she nor the show acknowledged the mostly Black choreographers who originated the dances on the social media platform. Since the backlash began, Fallon has not directly acknowledged the controversy, though the official Tonight Show channel’s YouTube video does list the handles of all of the dance originators in the video’s description.

Rae stated further that she’d love to “collab” with the creators saying, “once the world opens up, we can all meet up do something together, that would be so much fun, they’re all so talented and I definitely don’t do them justice, they’re amazing.”

When Rae was asked if Jimmy Fallon has reached out to her to apologize for getting her into this situation, she said, “We’re speaking all about it behind the scenes.”

This is not the first time this very segment has caused controversy for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Last year the show featured white TikTok star Charli D’Amelio performing dances made popular on the platform.
