Powered by Reelgood

Easter weekend marks the beginning of Spring Break for some, which means you’ll have plenty of time on your hands to binge a new batch of movies on demand. This week, whether you’re browsing Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, Google Play, or your cable’s service, there’s plenty to keep you busy in between bites of ham. You can catch the thriller Every Breath You Take starring Casey Affleck and Sam Clafin, or try out Drought, a favorite of ours from the Vail Film Festival.

And if seeing character actors morph into all-new versions of themselves is your thing you need to watch The Believer, starring Sophie Kargman, Aidan Bristow, and an almost unrecognizable Billy Zane. He’s gone full D’Onofrio in his role as a therapist in this psychological supernatural thriller. Decider has rounded up all the best movies that are out this week, and so no matter the genre, there’s plenty to choose from. Allow us to advise on what to watch this weekend.

Every Breath You Take

Casey Affleck and resting grump face are in their element in Every Breath You Take. Affleck stars as Dr. Philip Clark, a psychiatrist whose patient, Daphne, kills herself after being subject to his experimental methods. Daphne’s brother James (Sam Clafin) seeks out Dr. Clark at his home and ingratiates himself into the Clark family… right before he starts terrorizing them all.

Drought

Drought, executive produced by Mark and Jay Duplass, is the story of Carl and his sister Sam, who live in North Carolina in 1993. Their town is in the midst of a drought, and Carl, who is on the Autism spectrum, sets out to chase a storm that’s coming. Sam steals their mother’s ice cream truck and the storm-chasing road trip begins. The filmmakers have said that they sought to cast the role of Carl “authentically,” and found Wilmington, N.C. native Owen Scheid, who is himself on the spectrum, for the part. Hannah Black, who also wrote and co-directed the film, stars as Sam.
