‘The View’: Chelsea Clinton Demands Trump Do “The Right Thing” And Release Vaccine Pics

Chelsea Clinton sounded off on America’s vaccination process on this morning’s episode of The View, pleading with former president Donald Trump to try and convince his supporters to get the shot and help end the pandemic. Clinton, who appeared as a guest on today’s show, was prompted by host Joy Behar, who asked her if Trump’s “false narratives” are dissuading people from getting the Covid vaccine.

“While I certainly wish President and Mrs. Trump had been vaccinated on camera, I wish that they were part of the PSA,” she said, referring to a video released last month showing former presidents and first ladies — including her parents Bill and Hillary Clinton — getting vaccinated. Notably missing were Trump and former first lady Melania Trump.

“I said last year, even before we had any vaccines that had received emergency use authorization, that I hoped President Trump and his whole family would be out in front getting vaccinated when it was their turn to do so. I wish that he’d been part of that effort,” she continued.

But, Clinton insisted that Trump can make a difference now, even after he’s been vaccinated. “I still wish that they would release photographs of President Trump and Mrs. Trump being vaccinated because I think it’s the right thing to do, full stop,” she explained.

“But it’s also I think it’s really important given that we know white Republican men are currently the most vaccine wary, the least likely to say that they would be willing to get a Covid-19 vaccine right now,” she said. “We know that President Trump remains the most popular figure for that demographic, and so I do think that it would make a real difference if he were to claim credit for the enormous progress that his administration did help enable through Operation Warp Speed.”

Clinton suggested that Trump could be a “poster child” of both “vaccines and vaccinations” in order to make a difference in the country. “It’s never too late, even though he may have missed the PSA casting and cut-off, and although he may not be on Twitter any longer, he certainly seems to always find ways to have his voice heard, so I hope that he will still release those photographs and talk about why he and Mrs. Trump were vaccinated and hopefully were really grateful to be so.”

While Trump has kept his vaccination private, just this morning his daughter Ivanka Trump shared a photo of herself getting the Covid-19 vaccine, which caused an outcry online from Trump supporters, The Independent reports.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC. See Clinton’s comments on The View in the video above.
