New Movies and Shows to Stream This Weekend: The Circle season 2, Big Shot and Frank of Ireland
Let’s jump right in, shall we? After much anticipation, The Circle —the show that may have been built for the pandemic before we even knew it was coming— is back for another season with more drama, emojis and catfishes than before. The first four episodes premiered earlier this week, but you know you’ve been waiting for the weekend to binge-watch it all in peace! It seems like almost all of the streaming platforms are big on original series releases this weekend, because starting today you can check out Amazon Prime Video’s latest comedy series Frank of Ireland as well as fall in love with sports dramedies (and John Stamos) with Disney+’s new show, Big Shot. Plus, you can check out cinematic favorites like The Dark Knight on HBO Max and Songbird on Hulu starting today as well. Like we said, there are so many more great movies and shows like these available to check out this weekend! And to get started, check out some highlights from the great movies and shows now streaming we’ve listed below:
New on Netflix April 14: The Circle season 2
The perfect show for a quarantine world, yet we had to wait what felt like a millennia for The Circle to return to Netflix! New on Netflix this weekend is season 2 of the hit Netflix-original reality series about forging genuine relationships in the social media/digital age. The first four episodes are out now, and in them we meet a whole slew of new characters including former reality stars, a 58-year-old gay writer from Texas catfishing as a Gen Z kid and…Lance Bass? We are only scratching the surface, but season 2 of The Circle is already even more strategic, dramatic and more *fire emoji* than before! Check it out, and the other top shows new on Netflix this month.
New on Amazon Prime Video April 16: Frank of Ireland
This hilarious original comedy series new on Amazon Prime Video this weekend centers on Frank, a misanthropic 33-year-old musician who is far from being self-actualized as someone can get. Between being hung up on his ex, having to move back in with his family and constantly being treated like a kid, Frank’s already-loose grip on reality makes the prospect of growing up and earning respect that much more of a daunting process. He’s got his work cut out for him, for sure, and we can watch him try and fail and try again in Frank of Ireland.

New on Disney+ April 16: Big Shot
John Stamos stars in Big Shot, the latest original series that is new on Disney+ this weekend. It centers on a disgraced former NCAA men’s basketball coach who, in an effort to redeem what’s left of his career and reputation, must take a job at an all-girls high school. Tensions rise between the hotheaded Coach Marvyn Korn and his new team as he tries to accept a role that the community does not accept of him to begin with. But in classic Disney+ fashion, Big Shot is a series about growth, vulnerability and learning lessons in both sports and life.
