The CW Delays ‘Riverdale,’ Announces ‘DC’s Stargirl’ Season 2, More Premiere Dates

The CW is rolling out its summer 2021 schedule, and while new dates have been set for the return of DC’s Stargirl, Masters of Illusion and Roswell, New Mexico, it looks like Riverdale fans will have to wait a little longer for the latest season of the hit drama. The CW plans to release the rest of Season 5 of Riverdale in August, where it’ll be joined by the sixth and final season of Supergirl.

The network lineup kicks off with Kung Fu June 23, followed by the Season 2 premiere date for In the Dark, which was originally set for June 9. The CW also revealed the second half of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 will debut July 11, the same date as Wellington Paranormal, a What We Do in the Shadows spinoff series, makes its U.S. debut.

Other July premiere dates to make note of include Coroner Season 3 on July 15, Dead Pixels Season 2 on July 18, and Roswell, New Mexico Season 3 on July 26.

Come August, The CW is finally giving Riverdale fans what they’ve been waiting for, but a bit later than promised. Season 5 of the teen drama hits The CW Aug. 11, over a month after the previously announced premiere date of July 7. The delay will allow time for the season finale of Kung Fu, followed by a few weeks of repeats before Riverdale returns.

The network is rolling out plenty of other exciting releases that month, with the season premiere of DC’s Stargirl on Aug. 10, the Season 7 premiere of Masters of Illusion Aug. 13, and the Season 4 premiere of Burden of Truth Aug. 19.
