That lede is a reference to Steve Martin’s iconic 1991 Saturday Night Live cold open. If you’ve unfamiliar with the sketch, I highly recommend it because it’s one of the best cold opens in SNL history. Later tonight, NBC’s legendary late-night comedy returns for the first of three new episodes to close out Season 46. Elon Musk will host tonight’s episode (with music guest Miley Cyrus), while sketch comedy icon Keegan-Michael Key and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit) host the final two episodes of the season with musical guests Olivia Rodrigo and Lil Nas X, respectively.
