‘Enola Holmes’ Sequel: Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill Set to Return

Get ready for more Holmes-style sleuthing: Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill will reunite for a sequel to Netflix’s Enola HolmesThe Hollywood Reporter reports. Brown will return to play the titular Enola, while Cavill steps in once again as Sherlock Holmes. The series is based on Nancy Springer’s women-led Sherlock Holmes book series, which is comprised of six novels in total.

Along with Brown and Cavill, director Harry Bradbeer and writer Jack Thorne are set to return for the sequel. Both will also executive produce, alongside Legendary Entertainment’s Joshua Grode and Michael Dreyer. At the moment, other Enola Holmes cast members like Helena Bonham Carter, Sam Claflin, and Louis Partridge have not been announced to be returning, but stay tuned for more updates.

In Decider’s interview with Bradbeer, the director teased what’s to come for the Holmes family. “I’m excited about the other things that [Enola’s] going to do,” Bradbeer said. “She’s such an extraordinary character that we’re going to dig out some more secrets about her. If we do go again, there’s a lot of issues left in this dysfunctional family. Not only in the country, which is dysfunctional, but the family as well.”

If the Netflix adaptations follow the original book series, five more films will be in order in the Enola Holmes universe. Bradbeer said he’s ready for more — if he has the energy. “It’d be wonderful to get five more movies out of this scene. I do think they’re extraordinary stories to tell, and what a period,” he said, referencing the upcoming industrial revolution the Holmes family will face.

Netflix reports that an estimated 76 million households streamed the first film in its first month. The upcoming film will once again follow the adventurous little sister of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes solving mysteries in 20th century London.
