Where to Watch ‘Spiral’: When Will Chris Rock’s ‘Saw’ Movie Be on Streaming?

Not only does a ninth film in the Saw franchise exist, but it’s also coming out in theaters this week. Who knew?!

Spiral, aka Spiral: From the Book of Saw, aka Spiral: Saw, is sneaking into theaters this weekend after having its release delayed a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Starring Chris Rock as a headstrong detective, Max Minghella as his rookie partner, and Samuel L. Jackson as a seasoned police officer, this ninth movie in the Saw franchise finds authorities investigating a series of murders that are all too similar to the crimes committed by the long-dead Jigsaw Killer.

Don’t worry— though this movie is technically the ninth film in the series, you don’t need to fret if you missed the first eight. Josh Stolberg, who co-wrote the film with Peter Goldfinger, has said that he does not see the film as a direct sequel to the eighth Saw movie, 2017’s Jigsaw, though the film does exist in the Saw timeline.

It’s hard to argue with an all-star cast like Rock and Jackson, so here’s everything you need to know about where to watch Spiral.

WHERE TO WATCH SPIRAL (2021):

Spiral will open in movie theaters only on May 14, 2021—aka tomorrow. You can find out if Spiral is playing in a theater near you here. The film will be available to rent on premium-on-demand beginning June 1.

IS SPIRAL ON STREAMING?

Spiral will be available to rent on PVOD beginning June 1. For a suggested price of $19.99, you will be able to rent Spiral on Amazon Prime, iTunes, YouTube, Google Play, and other platforms where you rent movies.

IS SPIRAL ON HBO MAX?

No. Spiral is a Lionsgate film, not a Warner Bros. film. While HBO Max is the streaming home for Warner Bros. blockbusters like Godzilla Vs. Kong and Mortal Kombat, it will not be the streaming home for Spiral—and at least, not for a while.

WILL SPIRAL BE ON NETFLIX?

Spiral is not on Netflix, and there is no indication that Spiral will be streaming on Netflix any time soon. Spiral is a Lionsgate film, and Lionsgate currently has a deal with Hulu and FX—meaning it’s more likely that Spiral will be on Hulu someday, not Netflix. For now, the only way to watch the film is in a movie theater, or to rent the film on PVOD beginning June 1.
