No matter how wild your summer promises to be, there’s not way it can compare to John B’s. Netflix has just released the first look photos for Outer Banks Season 2, and it did so with a promise: the new installment of everyone’s favorite maritime teen drama will be premiering sometime this summer.

Netflix has established that it’s pretty great when it comes to addicting teen dramas, but it found buried treasure with this one. Set in the coastal town of Outer Banks, N.C., the series follows a group of working class friends known as the Pogues. The leader of this band of misfits? John B (Chase Stokes). Last season bounced between the Pogues challenging the rich kids — also known as the Kooks — while John B. searched for his lost father who went missing after a boat trip gone wrong. That investigation led to the Pogues discovering a mysterious treasure tied to John B’s father.

Oh, and you better believe there was a love story happening along the way. While John B and his buds were getting dirty in the marsh and stealing scuba gear, our hero was also falling for one of the most popular members of the Kooks, Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline). It’s a classic rich girl meets poor boy tale, and it worked like shark chum. Have fun trying not to get addicted.

And it sounds like this new season is only going to get crazier. “Season 2 is going to test our crew like never before,” creators and executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke said in a statement released to the press. “We’ve turned up the dial on everything fans loved about Season 1 — more mystery, more romance and higher stakes. It’s a full throttle, action-packed adventure and these photos offer a glimpse into the next chapter for our Pogues. All we can say for now is buckle up, it’s going to be a wild ride.”

I mean, look at these photos. Look at the beach flirting. Look at the RUNNING. This season is already delivering on the sun-soaked aesthetic Outer Banks has perfected.

That’s a really good thing because last season left off on a major cliffhanger. Beware, spoilers are a’coming. After a mystery that led John B all over the island, he finally learned the truth about his father. It turned out that Sarah’s father Ward Cameron (Charles Esten) was just as obsessed with finding treasure as John B’s dad, Big John (Charles Halford). When they finally found it, Ward killed Big John. Ward had the gold all along and flew it to the Bahamas in a private plane. Desperate to get back the gold that rightfully belonged to his father, John B and Sarah stole a boat and tried to take it to the Bahamas, but they were caught in a tropical storm. Season 1 ended with everyone in Outer Banks assuming that John B and Sarah had died. But they died… like a fox. At the last minute, the couple managed to flag down a passing cargo ship and hitch a ride to the Bahamas. That’s right; they’re going after the gold.

We have so many questions for this new season. Is Ward going to be arrested? Will John B and Sarah find the treasure? What are the Pogues going to do without John B?  They’re useless without his half-smirking charm and effortless blonde waves. What’s with the running? Who are they running from? But no matter what happens, we’re along for the ride.
