When Will ‘Big Sky’ Season 2 Premiere?

Season 1 of Big Sky just ended, but if you’ve been watching David E. Kelley’s thriller chances are you’re already desperate for more episodes. That’s because Episode 16 ended on one headache-inducing cliffhanger.

Since it premiered in November of 2020 Big Sky has been a hit for ABC. Who doesn’t love dark horrific crimes paired with a small town ethos? Here’s everything you need to know about when Big Sky Season 2 will premiere.

There certainly will be. Earlier this month the ABC thriller was renewed for a second season. Considering the way Episode 16 ends, we’re in need of more episodes.

When Does the Next Season of Big Sky Start?

Big Sky is coming back this fall. ABC has announced that its drama will be returning on Thursday, September 30 at 10/9c p.m.

“What’s that?” you’re asking yourself. “Thursday??” That’s right. Big Sky has a brand new day, placing it right after Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy. That’s a very good thing. According to ABC, Big Sky was last fall’s No. 1 new series and the network’s most-watched new drama in two years. Putting it on Thursdays, also known as Shonda Rhimes day, is a vote of confidence.

How Did Big Sky Season 1 End?

With a big cliffhanger. We’ve already covered Big Sky’s Season 1 finale in more depth, but we can cover the basics here. Ronald (Brian Geraghty) was finally arrested for his many, many crimes. But thanks to the weirdly-chill-with-murder Scarlet (Anja Savcic), he escaped. While breaking out Ronald, one of his mysterious shadowy associates shot Jenny (Katheryn Winnick) in the chest.

Big Sky Season 1 ended with Ronald and Scarlet still on the run and Jenny being rushed to the hospital. At the moment we don’t know if she’s going to live or die. Her fate is the biggest question the finale left in its wake, but there’s another less important question brewing in the minds of fans.

Who Was Kelly / Kelli in Big Sky?

Remember way back in Episode 11 when the police found “Help me — Kelli” carved into Ronald’s truck? We never learn exactly who Kelli was but we do learn what happened to her.

While trying to distract Cassie (Kylie Bunbury), Jenny, and Deputy U.S. Marshal Mark Lindor (Omar Metwally), Ronald took the trio to the site of one of his many crimes. That’s where they found the decomposing corpse of Kelli. Apparently Ronald locked the woman in a wooden house and refused to visit her, causing her to die of starvation. Season 2 will likely uncover more clues about who this departed woman was. But in the meantime know that Ronald is far scarier than you imagined.
