Jenny McCarthy Fails to Recognize Husband’s Voice on ‘The Masked Singer’

Last night on The Masked Singer, the mysterious rooster let out his last crow. The clue master Cluedle-Doo finally revealed his identity as a part of the Fox show’s semi-finals last night, with an unexpected twist that left panelist Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg in awe: it was her husband.

Cluedle-Doo was a new addition to The Masked Singer this season. The enigmatic star was not a contestant, but one who distributed hints on the identities of the other contestants. While he was giving out the clues, the show hyped up his identity, suggesting he was a big star himself — and the result did not disappoint.

After a performance of “Return of the Mack” by Mark Morrison, the rooster announced he would reveal himself to the panelists. The panelists — including McCarthy, Robin Thicke, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, and guest Darius Rucker — tried to guess his identity. The assumptions included Jamie Foxx, Kevin James, and McCarthy’s guess was Akon. All were wrong.

The identity of Cluedle-Doo was revealed to be Donnie Wahlberg, McCarthy’s husband. The panelist was shocked, shaking, and completely speechless after the big reveal. After he took off his mask, Wahlberg explained why he made an appearance on the show.

“Well, there’s two reasons why I’m here, honestly,” Wahlberg said. “One, obviously, to see my wife. And two, you know, it’s been so long since I’ve performed for my fans. And New Kids On the Block fans, affectionately known as Blockheads, they’re family. They’re my heart.”

Wahlberg also joked about his ability to keep this a secret from his wife, saying he had to sneak in and out to protect Cluedle-Doo’s identity. After the show ended, the couple took to social media to discuss the events of the show.

“This is gonna take a while to get over,” McCarthy wrote. “The shame. Thank God @DonnieWahlberg still loves me. Amazing job tonight mister. I love you.”

But Wahlberg was not as endearing, teasing his wife for constantly guessing him as a contestant on The Masked Singer several times before he actually made his debut. “Maybe she was told she couldn’t guess her hubby any more since she’d already guessed me 112 times per season for four years,” he wrote.

The Masked Singer‘s finale will air next week on Wednesday, May 26, at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
