Meghan McCain and Joy Behar Continue Explosive Feud on ‘The View’: “Excuse Me, I’m Not Done!”

Meghan McCain and Joy Behar sparked a messy fight earlier this week on The View, and it’s clear the co-hosts don’t plan to make amends any time soon. On this morning’s episode of the hit talk show, McCain and Behar clashed again, initiating another screaming match over vaccine hesitancy.

After Behar accused people of holding out on getting the Covid vaccine as a way to “own the libs,” McCain gave her own take, insisting “it’s not just about owning the libs.” She added, “the demographics on who is vaccine hesitant, it crosses the gamut. There’s still a lot of hesitancy in the African American community.”

McCain suggested that “a summit or a discussion or figures that people trust on TV” could “help quell” the hesitancy and conspiracy theories surrounding the vaccines. “I think the White House and the CDC has done a terrible job in just saying, ‘What, do you wanna own the libs and that’s that?’ It’s not productive,” she said. “That’s why people keep going into their corners, and this is coming from a place of fear, I don’t think it’s coming from a place of politics.”

Behar challenged her take, replying, “A lot of people of color have every right to be skeptical of the government. They have been burned for generations.” McCain piped up, “I’m not saying they aren’t,” while Behar held up her hand to stop the interruption, telling her co-host, “Excuse me, I’m not done.”

Still, McCain continued. “I’m not saying they aren’t, but Republicans have reasons to be nervous. I’m not trying to judge. I want as many people vaccinated in as many ways, but I think when you come on the show and just say, ‘Oh, we’re owning the libs,’ it’s just factually inaccurate about the demographics who are not getting the vaccine.”

As McCain went on to add “a lot of these people cross the gamut, I just gave you evidence,” Behar attempted to cut in again. “Excuse me, a lot of these people that you’re talking about, Meghan, are watching Sean Hannity,” she said, to which McCain offered a firm and loud denial. “They’re not,” she shot back, but Behar wasn’t done.

“[Hannity] and Tucker Carlson are telling them that it’s dangerous,” Behar said, as McCain continued talking about the “highly educated women” she knows who are turning down the vaccine. A visibly frustrate Behar threw her hands down, exclaiming, “Excuse me, can I please finish the sentence!”

Left with no choice but to cut the chaos short — for the second time this week — Whoopi Goldberg brought an abrupt end to the fight as McCain and Behar’s audio faded and the show was sent to a commercial break.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
