Need a streaming rec? Take it from actor Jonathan Tucker, who has recommendations galore. Whether you’re looking for sports, drama, sci-fi, or romance, Tucker has series to share for our Decider readers. The American actor has starred in films like The Ruins and Virgin Suicides, as well as series like Westworld and Parenthood. Watch him rattle off his recs above, and then read about the series he recommends.
Before jumping into his own streaming habits, Tucker would be remiss not to mention his own series. First up is Kingdom, a 2014 drama series from the Audience Network co-starring Frank Grillo, Nick Jonas, and Kiele Sanchez. The series follows Alvey Kulina (Grillo), the owner of a mixed martial arts gym in Venice, California. He runs the joint with his two sons, played by Tucker and Jonas, who bring their own problems to the mix. Kingdom is available to rent or purchase on iTunes.
You’ll also spot Tucker as the lead in Debris, which is currently airing on NBC. The series follows — well, debris, of course. After six months worth of debris falls from an alien spacecraft hovering above Earth, an international task force is sent to collect the pieces from orbit. The CIA and MI6 get involved, but a few key players only have their best interest at heart. New episodes premiere weekly on Mondays, and Season 1 is currently streaming on Peacock.
Though he doesn’t have a role in the Hulu series, Tucker gives high praise to Normal People. The romance series debuted last year, garnering a slew of Emmy and BAFTA nominations for its tender portrayal of a relationship. Normal People is based on Sally Rooney’s novel of the same name, starring Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones as two high school sweethearts who pursue each other over a handful of years.
Not into scripted content? Or, perhaps you’re looking for more fighting after Kingdom? Tucker has one last rec up his sleeve: UFC fighting. The actor is certainly a fan — he even reps UFC Fight Night in his Twitter bio! You can check out Decider’s UFC streaming guides or watch the fights on pay-per-view.
Happy bingewatching!
