Lindsay Lohan To Return To Acting With Netflix Holiday Rom-Com

Lindsay Lohan is back in business. The actress, who has taken a step away from major acting roles in the last handful of years, is set to star in a currently untitled Netflix holiday rom-com. And even though The Princess Switch saga was based on her hit film The Parent Trap, she’ll be starring in something entirely different.

In the upcoming film, Lohan will play a “newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress” who loses her memory after a skiing accident. As the holiday cheer leads up to Christmas, she finds herself taken care of by “a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter.” At this time, no other cast members have been announced.

Lohan had a miraculous start to her career, beginning with her 1998 reboot of The Parent Trap when she was just 11 years old. She then starred in Freaky Friday and Mean Girls as an older teen, creating an A-List star out of the young woman. But the limelight was far too harsh for the star, and she later dropped out of acting after years of being hounded by paparazzi and tabloidsShe’s popped up here and there, starring in The CanyonsSick Note, and appearing as a judge on The Masked Singer.

On CNN’s New Year’s Eve Special in 2019, Lohan informed hosts Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen that she aimed to “come back to America and start filming again.” Now, after the COVID-19 pandemic pressed pause on most filming in the world, Lohan has made true on her word.

The Netflix movie will start production in November, so plan on streaming this film in years to come, rather than in 2021. Janeen Damian is set to direct, co-writing the project with Michael Damien, Jeff Bonnett, and Ron Oliver.
