The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has unveiled the nominees for the 48th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, which are set to be presented on June 25 in primetime on CBS and Paramount+. The list includes posthumous nominations for Alex Trebek and Larry King.
Trebek, who passed away late last year, is nominated for the Outstanding Game Show Host category for his classic host role on Jeopardy. The nomination marks Trebek’s 32nd in the category for Jeopardy alone, and if he wins, it’ll be his eighth win. Trebek also has a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Daytime Emmy Awards. Trebek also has the most nominations in the Oustanding Game Show Host category, and is the current holder of the award after last year’s 2020 celebration.
King has a nomination for Best Informative Talk Show Host on Larry King Now. This nomination marks his fifth in the category, though he’s never won before. Apart from his nominations at the Daytime Emmy Awards, King has also garnered a Peabody Award for Excellence in Broadcasting (for both his radio and TV shows). He has been inducted to both the National Radio Hall of Fame and the Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame.
ABC’s General Hospital soared to the top of the nominations list, garnering 21 nominations, followed by fellow soaps The Young and the Restless on CBS and Days of Our Lives on NBC with 11 nominations. CBS’s The Bold and the Beautiful came in at fourth place, grabbing nine nominations. All four series are up for outstanding drama series.
The 48th annual Daytime Emmy Awards will air on Friday, June 25 from 8-10 p.m. ET on CBS and the network’s streaming service, Paramount+.
