‘Jeopardy’ Fans Praise Mayim Bialik as “Best Guest Host So Far”

Mayim Bialik has only hosted one episode of Jeopardy so far, but some fans are already campaigning for her to lead the iconic game show for good. Bialik, who is the latest Jeopardy guest host, took over the podium in her hosting debut last night, impressing fans and earning largely positive reviews.

While Bialik is known as an actor recognized for her roles on Blossom and The Big Bang Theory, she also earned a PhD in neuroscience from UCLA. In her introduction at the start of last night’s show, she said it was “an incredible honor” to take over as guest host, per Yahoo Entertainment. “I was raised in a very creative and academic family, but it wasn’t until high school that I fell in love with science, and that love led me to a PhD in neuroscience,” she said. “I so appreciate that Jeopardy is a show that tests all aspects of intellect and allows the brightest minds to shine.”

As Bialik’s first episode aired, praise began to pour in on Twitter, with fans crowning her the best guest host yet. “Just give [Bialik] the job already. She’s a natural,” one fan wrote. Another added, “Mayim Bialik is terrific on Jeopardy. She has my vote for permanent host.”

In a video posted on Twitter after her first episode aired, Bialik recounted the “surreal” experience of hosting. “It’s the only thing I’ve ever enjoyed watching myself in, mostly because I’m barely on camera,” she joked, before thanking fans for watching.

Bialik is the latest guest to fill in on Jeopardy, which has been led by a rotating roster of hosts since the death of Alex Trebek last fall. Previous hosts have included former competitors Ken Jennings and Buzzy Cohen, as well as Katie Couric, Aaron Rodgers, and Bill Whitaker.

After Bialik’s hosting gig wraps June 11, Today Show host Savannah Guthrie will take over, followed by Dr. Sanjay Gupta and George Stephanopoulos. Jeopardy is expected to announce a permanent host for next season sometime this summer.
