'The Devil Wears Prada' Sequel is Happening: Here's What We Know
You can watch Panic, the new meta-TV show based on bored teens winning a dangerous reality show for huge wads of cash, or you can choose to read the book it’s based on, starting at $6.50. Either way, if you’re an Amazon Prime member, it’s right at your fingertips. And if you’re not, you can sign up now with a free 30 day subscription, $12.99 per month after that (just in time for Prime Day, FYI). If audiobooks are your thing, you can also listen to Panic with 30 free days of Audible Plus, the all-you-can download and read service from Amazon, just $7.95 per month after that. In addition to audiobooks, you’ll have access to a large library of podcasts and Audible Originals as well.
Panic, a YA thriller, was adopted from Lauren Oliver’s novel and takes place in a small, under-served town with lots of bored teens looking to shake things up over summer break. Decider’s Joel Keller, in his review of Panic, was especially impressed by the show’s main character, who he says “plays Heather as someone who is confident her plan to break the cycle of poverty and abuse in her family and has nothing to lose once that evaporates.”
But if you’d like to read the original story, Panic, the book, is just as captivating. Mirroring the teen angst of smart, female heroes in stories like The Hunger Games, Heather decides to compete in a dangerous game with other graduating seniors—with a chance of winning $67000 to get clear of the town which has essentially held her captive.

The idea of panic the game is to solidly face fears while getting through a series of deadly challenges. Along the way, Heather creates an alliance with Dodge, who has his own reason for needing the cash, and things heat up. Because, let’s face it, what’s a YA novel without a little romance?
A fun, mysterious story perfect for summer beach reading, you won’t be able to put down Oliver’s captivating novel until you get to the very end.
