When Will ‘Sweet Tooth’ Season 2 Come Out?

Sweet Tooth is Netflix’s latest comic book adaptation—and it’s unlike anything you’ve seen  before. Adapted from writer/artist Jeff Lemire’s acclaimed DC Comics/Vertigo series Sweet Tooth, this is a post-apocalyptic tale that mashes up the horrific (a plague) with the adorable (a bunch of animal/human hybrid babies!). But don’t let the cute kids fool you, because the world of Sweet Tooth has a lot of bite to it.

If you’ve finished Sweet Tooth Season 1, then you know this show has sharp teeth. So, when will you get a second helping of Sweet Tooth? Has Netflix renewed the show for another season? Here’s everything you need to know about the show’s fate, as well as a recap of where the show leaves off.

Does Sweet Tooth Season 1 end on a cliffhanger? Sweet Tooth ending explained

Oh, wow, yes it does. There are so many reveals in the final moments of the season finale that you probably forgot a few already. Gus had his entire world turned upside down when he learned that he doesn’t have parents so much as a team of scientists who created him.

Making matters worse, Gus been kidnapped by the Last Men, as ordered by General Abbot. He’s now at the Preserve, which has been completely taken over by Last Men, where he’s just one of many hybrids waiting to be experimented on. And who’s doing the experimenting? Dr. Singh, who has been completely broken down spiritually and has to do whatever it takes to save his wife, Rani. That includes cutting up hybrid kids in search for the cure. At least all the hybrid kids—including Aimee’s adopted daughter Wendy—have each other? And Gus finally knows he’s not alone? Small comfort.

Help is on the way, though, in the form of Aimee and Jepperd. Aimee came to Jep’s rescue after he was shot and left for dead by the Last Men. They’re now holed up in Aimee’s old office, preparing to team up and get their kids back.

Meanwhile, we learned Bear’s backstory. Her name is really Becky, and her foster parents weren’t killed; they died due to the sick, and the Last Men took her newborn sister away from her. That sister, we learn, is Wendy. And in the final moments of the episode, Bear/Becky makes contact via satellite phone with a scientific outpost in Alaska when Birdie—the scientist that created and cared for Gus, the woman Gus believed to be his mother—picks up.

So to sum up: Gus and Wendy are prisoners of General Abbot and the Last Men and they’re gonna be dissected by Dr. Singh so he can save his wife. Meanwhile Aimee and Jepperd are mounting a rescue mission, while Bear’s about to chat with Gus’s long lost “mom.” Yeah… yeah Season 1 ends on a cliffhanger, all right.

Will there be a Sweet Tooth Season 2?

Good lord, there better be! Can you imagine if that was how the series ended? Talk about bleak! While Netflix has yet to confirm that a second season is on the way, Sweet Tooth’s creative team sure seems confident. You don’t end a show like that without at least a hunch that you’ll probably be back for more. So while Netflix’s hasn’t ordered more Sweet Tooth yet, it seems likely—as long as people actually watch Season 1. So if you want more, watch every episode ASAP and tell all your friends about it. Let Netflix know you want to see Gus get out of that cage!

Decider will update this article when Netflix releases information about Sweet Tooth Season 2.
