Tom Hiddleston Reacts to Matt Damon’s Return as “Loki” in ‘Thor: Love & Thunder’

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a busy place. With so many movies and TV shows on the way, cameras are rolling on something Marvel related every single day. And for Tom Hiddleston, that means doing press for a show called Loki wherein he plays Loki while another actor plays Loki a world away on a movie set. Okay, the character isn’t Loki Loki; he’s an Asgardian actor playing Loki—and he’s played by Matt Damon.

After debuting in a brief scene in Thor: Ragnarok (alongside Luke Hemsworth as “Thor” and Sam Neill as “Odin”), Damon and his Norse co-stars were spotted on the set of Taika Waititi’s follow-up, Thor: Love and Thunder. While promoting his upcoming Disney+ series, Hiddleston shared his FOMO about watching someone else get into the green and gold again.

“Well, I have no ownership as you know,” Hiddleston said with a laugh. “Loki contains multitudes, and he contains Matt Damon.”

Hiddleston then looked back at those days on the Ragnarok set when Damon first showed up, ready to show off his take on an actor’s take on Loki. “I was so I was so amused on that—I can’t remember, it was a couple of days on Ragnarok when he came in and did his thing. It was like looking into a very slightly distorted mirror. And his take on the whole thing was just hilarious, so I can’t I can’t wait to see what they’ve been doing.”

But first, Damon will get the chance to see the real Loki in action once again when his series debuts on Disney+ on June 9. Of course, uh, Hiddleston’s playing Loki, but he’s not exactly the Loki we knew? Listen—nothing in the MCU is ever that straightforward.
