Gone Girl actor Lisa Banes has died after being injured during a hit-and-run in New York City earlier this month, NBC News reports. She was 65. Banes, who suffered a traumatic brain injury after being struck on the Upper West Side June 4, died Monday, her manager shared.

“We are heartsick over Lisa’s tragic and senseless passing,” David Williams told NBC News. “She was a woman of great spirit, kindness and generosity and dedicated to her work, whether on stage or in front of a camera and even more so to her wife, family and friends. We were blessed to have had her in our lives.”

Banes was hit by a rider on either a scooter or a motorcycle, which ran a red light and injured the actor while she was crossing Amsterdam Avenue near Lincoln Center. According to her manager, she was on her way to visit her alma mater, the Julliard School. No suspects have been identified at this time.

“The driver did not stop but continued,” Williams said. “Luckily, she was relatively close to the hospital and she was able to be transported there.” Banes died June 14 at Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, 10 days after being struck.

While Banes was well-known for her role as Marybeth Elliott in 2014’s Gone Girl, she also appeared in films like the ’80s hit Cocktail, the horror film A Cure for Wellness, and the comedy The Strongest Man. Her TV credits include roles in Nashville, Masters of Sex, Madam Secretary, Royal Pains, NCIS, and more. Banes was also a stage actor, appearing in multiple productions over the years, including the 1988 Neil Simon play “Rumors”, 1998’s “High Society,” and 2010’s “Present Laughter,” per the Associated Press.

Banes was married to reporter Kathryn Kranhold and lived in Los Angeles, California.
