Andy Cohen Bashes ‘Housewife and the Hustler’ Doc for Including Danielle Staub, Dana Wilkey: “Questionable at Best”

Andy Cohen is giving his own take on the buzzy new documentary The Housewife and the Hustler. The Real Housewives executive producer weighed in on the newly released ABC News movie, which details the complicated legal troubles of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne and her estranged husband, Tom Girardi. During an episode of his SiriusXM show Andy Cohen Live, Cohen addressed Jayne’s future on RHOBH now that The Housewife and the Hustler has been released, People reports.

When a caller asked Cohen if he thinks the doc will influence Jayne’s future on the popular reality franchise, he demurred. “I don’t think that documentary will affect her future on the show,” he said. In response, the caller admitted The Housewife and the Hustler made them “not want to watch [RHOBH]” and that “seeing her life of opulence” and “knowing that money was stolen money made it a little bit icky.”

While Jayne has not been formally charged with any crimes, Girardi has been accused of embezzling settlement funds intended for the victims of the 2018 Lion Air crash, in which all passengers and crew members onboard died. The former couple is also accused of using their divorce as a way of protecting their funds.

The Housewife and the Hustler suggests that Jayne may have been more involved in her estranged husband’s legal troubles than she’s revealed. Law360 features reporter Brandon Lowrey says in the doc that Jayne was listed as a “secretary” at Girardi’s company, which leads to “questions” about “what she knew, whether she benefited from this, what she’s received in that capacity.” Lowrey also says “It’s going to be hard” for Jayne to claim that “she didn’t know that anything was going on.”

Still, Cohen snuck in some doubt about the new doc. “I will say the idea that Danielle Staub and Dana Wilkey are the experts in this documentary about Erika is questionable at best,” he said, referring to the two Housewives stars, both of whom have “publicly feuded” with Jayne, per Page Six.

“So I kind of realized I wasn’t going to learn anything new from them about Erika,” he said, although he admitted, “The Tom Girardi stories continue to be deeply disturbing, and we have to see how this plays out.”

The Housewife and the Hustler is now streaming on Hulu. Listen to Cohen’s comments from yesterday’s show in the video above.
