With the 2019 conclusion of Marvel’s legendary The Avengers film franchise comes an opening for the creators at DC Comics to fight back, and boy, are they NOT pulling any punches! Between recent successes like Wonder Woman and Birds of Prey, and upcoming works in progress like The Suicide SquadBlack Adam, and The Flash, there’s a lot to get excited about coming out of the DC Extended Universe.

And while these projects are all, for the most part, chock-full of big name actors and actresses we know and love, there’s also a new up-and-coming star on the block who’s here to make a big impact in her DCEU debut film The Flash before getting her own stand-alone movie Supergirl as the titular hero. So, without further ado, get to know the kick-ass young actress that is Sasha Calle, your next Supergirl flying her way to a screen near you.

Who is Sasha Calle?

Call is a Boston-born 25 year-old actress who has been professionally acting since 2017, when she got her start in sci-fi drama short film 18 Minutes. That same year, Calle earned her first recurring role as Virginia in YouTube mini-series Socially Awkward. From there, the actress racked up credits in more short films like Rogue TigerThe White ShoesFinal StopDeep Cuts, and Young Blood between the years of 2017 and 2019.

It is, however, her work on CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless for which Calle is best known. The actress played Lola Rosales from 2018 to 2021, amassing credits in over 250 episodes of the series and proving that she had the staying power, emotional range, and hard-earned skill needed to make the transition into her first big feature film appearance as Supergirl, a role for which she was announced earlier this year.

Will Sasha Calle Be in The Flash?

Yes! Calle makes her first official onscreen appearance as Supergirl in the upcoming action-adventure superhero film The Flash, which is currently filming and set for a 2022 theatrical release. While the film’s plot is currently unknown, we do know that it is led by an excellent cast that includes Calle, Ben Affleck, Michael Keaton, Ezra Miller, Ron Livingston, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Kiersey Clemons, and Maribel Verdú.

We also finally have an idea of what Calle will look like as Supergirl, thanks to images that came out today of her suited up that are now spreading on Twitter like wildfire.

We’re so excited to see what Calle brings to The Flash and for everything she does after in her stand-alone film!

When Will Sasha Calle Star in Supergirl?

While the idea to have a Supergirl stand-alone film was first announced in 2018, it wasn’t until February’s announcement for The Flash that we learned about who would be cast as the titular role. Now that Calle is in place to star, DC seems to be moving swiftly from there and is tentatively planning to have the Supergirl film out sometime within the 2022 and 2023 Warner Bros. slate.
