This week High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is going on the road, and it’s all in the name of competition. Decider has your exclusive first look at High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Season 2, Episode 7 — and all the drama is set to go down this Friday, June 25.
This season has marked a departure from Season 1. Whereas the first installment of this series revolved around the teens of East High capturing the magic of High School Musical: The Musical, this time they have their sights set on winning the competitive Alan Menken Award. And as is so often the case when it comes to musical theater, it all comes down to sabotage. After suspecting that North High has stolen a key mask for their performance of Beauty and the Beast, our East High favorites storm their rival school, North High.
The clip sees Carlos (Frankie Rodriguez) rallying his fellow cast members as they prepare to infiltrate North High’s dance studio. But the real standout of this heist is Ashlyn’s (Julia Lester) aggressive North High attire.
“Today I am Diane. I play volleyball, and I love North High,” Ashlyn yells.

Remember all of those half-baked schemes you used to orchestrate in high school that inevitably failed? This foray from “The Field Trip” has all the excited energy of that. Only this time around East and North High’s face-off will end in a dance-off. But that’s not all. According to a press release from Disney+, Season 2 Episode 7 will also see Miss Jenn going face-to-face and toe with her crush-turned rival, Zack Roy (Derek Hough). Also, an emboldened Nini (Olivia Rodrigo) will take a big risk.
So far the 2021 High School Musical cast has created a brand new song for Beauty and the Beast, thrown the notion of typecasting out the window, and has challenged a long distance relationship. Now this Friday we’re about to see a dancing and acting heist. Catch “The Field Trip” on Disney+ this Friday, June 25.
