New Movies and Shows to Stream This Weekend: The Ice Road, Bosch Season 7 and False Positive

All the top streaming platforms are cheering you on as you cannonball into the summer season, so jump in the water’s great! On Netflix, you can catch Liam Neeson in his latest survival thriller, The Ice Road, which will surely add some chill to an otherwise hot weekend. Over on Amazon Prime Video, the cult-favorite original detective series Bosch is saying goodbye with the release of its seventh — and final — season. And Hulu is debuting False Positive, a stirring drama starring Broady City‘s Ilana Glazer in a not-so-funny role. New on Netflix June 25: The Ice Road

Liam Neeson (Taken, Schindler’s List) is cranking out another classic survival thriller in The Ice Road, new on Netflix this weekend. After a remote diamond mine collapses in northern Canada, an ice driver must lead an impossible mission over a frozen ocean to save the miners trapped inside. Nothing is surprising about this film; but Neeson is in his element once more, making The Ice Road an enjoyable watch that will appease fans of the actor and genre alike. New on Amazon Prime Video June 25: Bosch Season 7

The sleeper hit TV series Bosch is returning for its seventh and final season new on Prime Video this weekend. This Prime-original series based on the acclaimed Michael Connelly book series follows the adventures of detective Harry Bosch (played perfectly by character actor Titus Welliver) over seasons filled with crime, drama and all the spectacular trappings that come with the beloved subgenre. We are going to miss shouting ‘BOSCH!’ while watching this show, but season 7 is sure to deliver a worthy finale. And, if you’re like our writer Josh Sorokach, your Bosch fanaticism will never die.

New on Hulu June 25: False Positive

New on Hulu this weekend is False Positive, the chilling yet fascinating film about what it sometimes takes to enter motherhood. Broad City funny girl Ilana Glazer steps into a more dramatic — if not horrifying — new genre as she plays a woman who is desperately trying to get pregnant with her husband. The premise is not foreign to us, but what is unnerving in its accuracy is how False Positive depicts the myriad of hoops that women sometimes must jump through just to become mothers and the ways they themselves enforce patriarchal norms and are complicit in their own oppression. This is not a lighthearted film, but one everyone should watch this summer.
