Where to Watch Questlove’s ‘Summer of Soul’ Documentary

Questlove is making his directorial debut! The ubiquitous leader of the legendary Roots crew is releasing his Sundance darling Summer of Soul  very soon, and if you want to watch, you’re not alone. The film snagged two huge Sundance awards when it debuted at the festival earlier this year: the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award for U.S. Documentaries. And if that’s not enough to convince you this movie is worth a watch, just look another look at the director. That should make it a must-watch.

Sources say that Summer of Soul is the biggest Sundance documentary sale ever, beating 2020’s $12 million Boys State acquisition. Taking place in 1969 Harlem, the doc follows a magical six weeks of summer during the Harlem Culture Festival. The event celebrates Black history, culture, music, and fashion in the neighborhood, with people flying in to visit from all over the world.
