Netflix is bringing you blood, gore, and teen drama this 4th of July weekend with the first installment of the Fear Street trilogy, a new horror movie franchise from the streaming service that is based on the young adult books series by R.L. Stine of the same name. And if you’ve just finished watching Fear Street Part 1: 1994 on Netflix, then you know that—spoiler alert—this first Fear Street movie leaves viewers with a pretty big cliffhanger.
In the final moments of the film, our heroes Deena (Kiana Madeira) and Sam (Olivia Welch) think that they’ve won, and can finally live their lives in peace. Not so fast—Deena gets a call from someone named C. Berman (Gillian Jacobs) who tells her that the Shadyside witch will never leave her alone. Cue a shocking plot twist that we won’t spoil, followed by a trailer for the sequel: Fear Street Part 2: 1978.
The next Fear Street movie—which is helmed by the same director as the first, Leigh Janiak—will take viewers even further back, to a place called Camp Nightwing in 1978. Much like the first film, the camp is divided between the affluent town of Sunnyvale and the struggling town of Shadyside. But when mysterious forces terrorize the camp, both campers and counselors are forced to come together. Starring Stranger Things‘ Sadie Sink, Fear Street Part 2 promises to keep the fun horror times going.
